  • Irritating the IOC

So, the local CoC sent out a sign that says "Welcome, Olympics Visitors" for all the local hotels/motels to display in their lobby. The IOC lawyers have been going up and down the interstate corridor these past few weeks nailing anyone who uses the name or logo of the Olympic Games without permission. So, how do we get away with it?

I noticed immediately the mountains on the sign didn't seem right. Namely, they weren't Whistler, or any other peaks in BC for that matter. I quickly suspected, and today confirmed, how we were getting away with it.

The sign actually features a lovely picture of the Olympic mountains. Technically, we're welcoming people to the Olympic mountains (even though it's about a three hour drive away, though you can see them from here on a clear day). Never mind the sign is decorated with various international flags that have nothing to do with the mountains displayed. It's just barely legal enough that the IOC can't do anything, but I'm sure it annoys the hell out of them!

And yet so many business owners probably have failed this.

Hooray, I like annoying the lawyers... lol.
Make a list of important things to do today.
At the top of your list, put 'eat chocolate'
Now, you'll get at least one thing done today

Because you know...free advertising is a bad thing....right?

The IOC seems like fun folks to irritate...if they get too huffy slip them a 20...Although they might be insulted at the low amount of the bribe.

Well, get about 10 ones, then on the outside, wrap a 20 around it.

I think they'd probably rumble that, since in Canada that would be a $20 bill wrapped around 10 $1 coins.

It's true. It would be a little obvious. Our smallest bill is $5. :P

The IOC are.....well a bunch of twats, frankly. >.>

The Bay, aka the "Olympic Superstore" ( aka the only store allowed to sell "official" licensed merchandise beyond key chains and plushies ) downtown has been forced to stay open 24 hours a day now. Because they were getting a line up around the block every morning by 7am.

As a reward drunken morons have smashed their windows in about 6-7 times in the last two weeks. I get a call from them at least once every 48 hours about damage to the store. =/
