  • Caught a Troll

Heard this from a customer yesterday. Apparently, one of his clients is friends with a woman who has a mentally retarded adult son. According to the customer, one of the census workers in our area is a midget, and had come up to the son's house. It seems the son freaked out, grabbed the census worker, and shoved him in a closet, then barricaded the door with furniture. He kept putting candy under the door to try to feed the guy.

He called his mother and told her he'd caught a troll and put him in the closet, but she brushed it off as a fantasy on her son's part.

It wasn't until about an hour later, when the son called again and told his mother that he ran out of Skittles and the troll was making a lot of noise, that she realized something might be up.

I don't remember if his mom went down there to deal with him herself or if the police were involved, but either way, it'd be an impressive story.

THAT'S why it sounded so familiar!
Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.

Not surprised, since I couldn't figure out how that could have possibly ended without lawsuits or police.

Posted it right before bed, in case I forgot about it, so never bothered to check.

Most recent version I've heard: It wasn't a troll, it was a leprechaun, who happened to come knocking on the door dressed in green on St. Patrick's day, looking to spread the Good Word. I still haven't broken it to my friend that she got totally owned by the coworker who told her the story...
