  • "Nancy's" decision caused guy to leave

According to the Parking office & campus police the entire area where the Visitor parking booth is located is a no parking zone.

I already received phone calls from "Andrea", the Director of Parking & Transportation, regarding the following, & so I was not about to let anyone park behind the Visitor parking booth *this is mentioned later in this post*. Campus police contacted her, & she called me to let me know that they called her.
    • The exit gate was up one day when I got to work, & so I let a car through that side so the gate would go down
    • traffic was backed up at the Visitor Parking booth one day during the first week of fall semester last year.

Yesterday I saw the Director of Facilities, the campus police chief, & a couple of other Facilities employees surveying the main building at the university as well as the faculty/staff garage.

A guy drives up to the booth window & asks me where he can park to finish taking pictures of the faculty/staff garage because he is working on a project for the university through the Facilities dept. I call the Parking office, & "Nancy" answers the phone. I tell her why I am calling. She tells me he can park in Visitor Parking, but he has to get a token from the Facilities dept. to exit. She also tells me that if he does not get a token, then he has to pay for one for $5.00.

So I tell the guy this, & he tells me he does not want to pay the parking fee if Facilities does not give him a token to exit. He asks me if he can park behind the booth. I call the Parking office again. "Nancy" answers the phone, & I tell her why I am calling. She tells me no, he cannot park behind the booth & that if he does not want to pay the $5.00 parking fee, then he can park at the metered lot across the street.

I tell the guy what she said. He leaves.

"Nancy" calls me several minutes later to ask where he parked at. I told her he left. I could tell she was frustrated.
