  • Dear heavens what next!

    Sooooo....

I got told today that I HAD to come in 15 minutes late because I worked over last night. Apparently I'm supposed to swipe out at the due time I'm supposed to leave whether I've finished or not and then go down and finish my work. Well F that. I'm being paid for what I work not for their inability to cope with wages costs because they can't make sure we have enough people for the work to get done!

I'm not going to do it whatever they say, I'll work to rule before I do that. What can they do fire me for working overtime!

UK law says bollocks to that. They're risking an employment tribunal by expecting you to work unpaid, especially if you can get it in writing.

As to your last sentence, no idea. Safer to not complete the work.

I agree. No job should ever expect an employee to work off the clock. That's a liability waiting to happen.

So the options are: OT, reduce work time for next shift, or punch out on time and work is not completed. I'd find out which option management wants.
Make a list of important things to do today.
At the top of your list, put 'eat chocolate'
Now, you'll get at least one thing done today
