    NBC cancels Law & Order

The series finale is on May 24.

Law & Order:SVU will be continued and a new spin off, "Law & Order: Los Angeles" will be started.

I'm surprised they'd cancel such a long-running show on such short notice, rather than, say, half a season ago. Though for Law & Order it doesn't matter as much.
Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed.

Well, it's not like L&O has a lot of loose ends to tie up. Most of what goes on in an episode is self-contained; they make a point of not getting too much into the regular characters' personal lives with multi-episode story arcs (though SVU and Criminal Intent do much more of that). Granted, I haven't watched on any regular basis in the last few years so maybe they've changed things.

I don't watch television anymore and my favourite actor on that show has passed on anyway...

It's not so much the canceling that raised my eyebrow, but the fact that the show had been on for twenty years. XD

I miss Lenny. He was a classic New Yorker .
I wish the show would stay on for one more year, I'm unhappy with NBC.

At least SVU will stay alive.

I miss Lenny (RIP Jerry Orbach).

Though I do like Anthony Anderson (for some reason I have a soft spot for him - kinda like the soft spot I have for Jerry Orbach, but not as intense).

I'm going to miss Law & Order. I'll keep watching SVU. If there is a spin-off, I'll give that a try. I no longer watch Criminal Intent as Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe are no longer on the show and I don't like who replaced them (Jeff Goldblum & some chick).

Pity, it was just one season shy of beating Gunsmoke's running length.
I've been watching L&O most of my life, hell people comment I talk like a New Yorker. I never liked CI, and I stopped caring for SVU. Guess that's the end of an era for me, but there's always reruns.
