  • Just.... loud!

There is an Irish-style pub down kitty-corner from my office building.... Wonderful comfy decor, amazing fish'n'chips, by the way, but it takes too long for my half-hour lunch so I usually don't get to have any.

I'm up on the sixth floor and every so often we hear just a roar of cheers and horns, and it sounds like too much noise for the people who could fit in such a little place to be making! I think there's a soccer match on that they're all watching?

Not upset or anything, I think it's pretty cool! Just.... very noisy and distracting. Think this is a good enough excuse if I don't get all my work done today?

I just looked up the place's website - looks like they were watching U.S. v. Algeria, and England v. Slovenia. Some of my co-workers got quite excited and started monitoring the match online, yelling as much as the folks downstairs... :-D

Congrats on your team winning, TA! I don't follow any sports much, but I do get excited when I hear about a Detroit Tigers baseball game (and I haven't lived in Detroit for 13 years!)

The US won at pretty much the last minute.

I swear that team is going to give me an ulcer, well between them and the Sounders.

I let out a cheer in the office when the USA scored

Only the World Cup finals, to the rest of the world what the games leading up to the SuperBowl are to the US. AND the US beat Algeria earlier today Yep, loads of cheers assuming you're in the US (and if you weren't, you probably wouldn't be needing to ask this )

            Madness takes it's toll....

Ashaela, the "Woof & Quack" pub is always loud--just not usually *that* loud. Just try getting anywhere near on St. Patrick's Day!
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Yep, I know what you mean.... Here, they rope off the street for a block in front of the pub, bring out a bunch of musicians, and generally make a whole day of it. This year I wanted to go down after work and see it all, but my friend had an obligation at the last minute.

Meriweather - heh, yeah, soccer is a lot bigger in other parts than it is here; but then, I don't keep up with sports at all. I'm 28, and this year was the first that I even tried to watch any of the Superbowl...
