"This dog is uncoordinated in a way that would suggest her canine lineage is tainted with traces of a species with a different number of legs"

    That's awesome. And sad.

The cartoons that go along with it are just precious. We had a cat once that we thought was retarded but turned out she was just half-blind.

I have always thought that my dog is quite bright, so I had to try the biscuit under the cup.

I get her to sit and place the biscuit under the cup. I say "OK" and she gets up and sniffs around the cup. Just like the story. I figure that I need to train her to knock the cup over. So I tip it over and she grabs the biscuit.

So I take another biscuit. Same thing. She won't knock the cup over. This time I take her head and make her bump the cup with her nose. She grabs the biscuit and runs off. She does not like having her head held like that.

I figure by now, she should understand. I was right. I called her over. Place the biscuit on the floor ...

And she grabbed it before I could put the cup down.

                Smart dog.

I used to play the shell game with my dog; she won every time. XD When I put a towel over her head, she scratched it off with a paw and gave me a "What the hell are you doing?!" look. She was so clever.

I used to play the cup game with my dog! Hee, he just bowled them all over till he got the right one. We also played hide-and-seek.

He went blind due to diabetes, but we still played hide-and-seek. I'd stand in the middle of the room and call him, and he'd do a grid search until he ran into me, and was all excited like "Yeah, I knew you were around here SOMEWHERE!"

There's one test my wife did with our dogs:

You put a small treat on the floor and a small towel over it.

Most dogs will nose it around trying to unbury the treat(always failing, mind you).

The "smart" ones will move the towel (pick it up and move it out of the way).

Zorro chose option C - rip a huge hole in the towel where the treat is.
