  • Dutch department store ad

HEMA is a Dutch department store. The first store opened on November 4, 1926, in Amsterdam . Now there are 150 stores all over the Netherlands.

Take a look at HEMA 's product page - just wait a couple of seconds and watch what happens.

DON'T click on any of the items in the picture, just wait. (Turn the sound on.)

This company has a sense of humor and a great computer programmer, who has too much time on his hands.

I knew there was a reason I liked the Dutch that didn't include hookers and beer.

Hehe, yeah. I haven't seen anyone call it that in years.

Me: Okay..so I think I get why Zoro wears a bandana
                  DDD: Cuz it's cool

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

I suddenly realised that in this country they wouldn't call it that in polite company...

I have to say, though, it reminded me of this.

Which was evidently inspired in turn by this...

Me too. In fact, that's what I've always called them since I was a teenager back in the 80's.

Awesome ad . . . now some of the American retailers would come up with something like that, that would definitely get some more traffic.
