  • Pripyat in summer

    http://community.livejournal.com/aba...s/2170958.html

Yes, I do google strange things sometimes. Pripyat interests me. Anyway, these photos show the city in summer; despite the most terrible blow to the Earth that mankind can make, the city is being overtaken by Nature.

The show Life After People did a segment on Pripyat. It was really interesting.

      Link? If possible.

I've always been fascinated by Pripyat, to be honest. I'd love to go and visit the city.

(there are others, not sure if they are the same vid or not; google Life After People Chernobyl)

I, too, get fascinated by things like this. I'd love to go visit Pripyat and Chernobyl, and also Centralia PA some day. Abandoned towns give me the good kind of creeps, especially when there's a disaster behind the reason they're abandoned.

I'd go to Centralia. That'd be cool. It would only be a few hours drive from me, too.

The pictures are beautiful, yet sad and a little scary. Just goes to show that Mankind isn't the big shot he thinks he is, and Mother Nature will eventually reclaim her own turf.

Exactly my thoughts on viewing those photos. The person who owns the LJ and who took the pictures has some of the city in winter, too, but I thought that the summer ones were the most thought provoking. Kind of like Nature - 1, Humans - 0.

I also loved the fact that this photographer took some different photos to the ones that everyone takes; ie the ferris wheel.
