  • Don't get mad at me!!

I went to my nearby BK today to get some lunch. When I got to the counter I was second in line (the person in front of me walked in just before me). The girl came to the register and looked at me and said "Oh, a large number one, right?" (I normally order a large whopper with cheese meal). I said "Yeah but he was here first" and as I was saying that the guy in front of me gave me a real dirty look.

Don't worry, I won't cut and don't give me a dirty look, I'm not the one who initiated this.

He orders a couple of custom burgers, pays, and walks over to wait for his food. I order mine. I fill my drink and get back to the counter.

Let's take a guess here - who do you think will get their food first, someone who orders something that is extremely popular and they usually have some on the heater or the person who ordered a couple of burgers that had to be made?

You guessed it - the person who ordered the common item. They hand me my bad and as I'm walking out the guy is giving me the dirtiest look you can imagine. He got his food and was walking out and continued with the dirty looks as I got into my car.

Seriously? Yes, you were there first and they took your order first, just because your order needs to be custom cooked doesn't mean a different person (other than the cook) is going to have me stand and wait when my meal is pretty much ready, it just needs to be put into a bag.

Besides, if you have an issue with this, take it up with the store's manager, don't get mad at me over it.

I probably would have flipped him off out of spite. If he wants to stare at something, the one fingered salute would do nicely.

The guy would hate to get lunch at my school's cafe-and-grill, then. The stuff that takes less time to cook (i.e. a plain ol' cheese quesadilla) gets sent out a lot faster than something that requires a longer cooking time (i.e. a burger or an order of chicken tenders) regardless of who ordered what when.

As somebody who prefers custom food (a lot of fast food places' hamburgers still Moo...I don't like my food to Moo) I want to apologize for this person. I know my food is going to take longer, I come prepared for that fact..and wait patiently. Rather have them take the time and remember not to throw on the things I would just have to pick off and waste then hurry and get it wrong.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

Considering the neighborhood, I think that would have escalated it too much. Better to just ignore him and get on with my day,

Don't worry, I know this person wasn't the norm. It's happened quite a few times in the past (ever been behind a mother towing a few finicky children in line at these places? OK, one hamburger meal but no mustard on the hamburger, one cheeseburger meal but no ketchup or mustard on the cheeseburger, one whopper jr with no pickles and no onions, another hamburger meal with no ketchup....)

Would probably be more effective to bat your eyes and blow him a kiss . . .
