  • The SC that almost was..

A few weeks ago me and my mum were at Winco doing the grocery shopping, well we saw poptarts , big box of them for 3:20 However they seemed to be a bit off, cause the OTHERS said 5:50.. Mum thought they applied to ALL of the poptarts and asked one of the employee's about it

Employee " Oh well sorry those are all gone, guess someone forgot to take the sign down ma'am =/"

My Mom -huffs once he leaves- " I should have started throwing a fit and complaining THEN he would have given it for the lower price"

Me"Yeah and later tonight I would be reading about a crazy woman that threw a fit over Poptarts.. Mum don't embarass me on the internet

    My mum

So yes I saved someone somewhere a rant on this site..barly...XD

I need that line... "Mom don't embarrass me on the internet..." hee
"Is it the lie that keeps you sane? Is this the lie that keeps you sane? What is it?Can it be?Ought it to exist?"
"...and may it be that I cleave to the ugly truth, rather than the beautiful lie..."

i've threatened my mother with "you are(being) the kind of customer i read about on my board"

yes one year she threw a fit and made the cashier adjust the price for 50% off of .75 candles! (b/c the sign said "all candles 50 % off) and it was "the principle of the matter" ... grr!

Principles are important things , but tell her from me that they can be upheld without throwing a fit. Usually being calm will work much better.
Picking the battles are important too, 37.5 cent is not the best fight.

I've been known to walk away from family members when they are being sc's over the littlest thing, it embarasses me, then they get all bent out of shape at me. I tell them "you know that i'm in retail and how hard we have it and you act that way?" and that I'm ashamed of them, lol, usually it works and they apologize.

Sadly, with the number of parents becoming web-savvy and the number of web-savvy becoming parents, this phrase is going to become very common in the next few years

I'd fight for the 37.5 cents, but that's just me. And by fight I do mean I'd be civil about it. I'd fight because being cheated out of my money makes me upset and willing to wait for things to be corrected. I'm curious if the fit came before or after asking the cashier to price-adjust the candles. If the cashier said no way right off the bat, then I understand the ire, even though a temper tantrum isn't the right way to express it.

And I've been sometimes shamed by the website. Not because I'm doing anything particularly sucky, but because some of my shopping interactions have been frustrating for all parties. Nothing like venting to a friend and being told someone may write about you.

no... i have to disagree. if the sign said that, then dammit, the store should be standing by it. doesn't matter if it's 37 cent or a million dollars. i swear that some of these vipers in corporate COUNT on the sheep to NOT make a fuss just so they can sneak by with a few extra cents on the full price.

you don't want to give the sale price, don't have the sign.

[and i'm a former retail worker! yeah we work hard, but that doesn't mean that management has the right to misuse us as intermediaries for their petty games]
