  • Questions and bragging!!!

    Ok, so:

    <BG> TTO and I are getting married. YAY!
    </BG>

    I found out today we're going to Dubai for 3 days and Switzerland for 7, for our honeymoon! BEST FIANCE EVAR!!

    So, questions about Dubai - I know they don't like PDA - is it ok to hold hands? I'm taking some pretty shawls with as I don't think T-shirts count as modest dress. I never wear shorts, so my legs will be fully covered. Do I have to cover my hair as well? I just want to make sure I don't offend anyone, you know?

      well i cheated and googled 'traveling to dubai-woman's attire' and heres what i got

      Everything indoors is air conditioned so consider a jacket or shawl. Outdoors, with the strong sun, though the temps are relatively mild in March, some cover on arms protects from the rays.

      Whether skirt or pant suits, or simple coordinates, should be lightweight fabrics.

      At poolside... 1/pcs, 2/pcs or bikinis (w/coverup/sarong)... no topless. You'll be fine.

      When Mall shopping you'll find burka-type (often tres tres expensive) shops practically right next door to Victoria's Secret.

          Thanks guys!
          @Slice - I do have a couple nice light shawls that I can take with, so I'll remember to pack those I am not a bikini person, so 1 piece all the way baby!

              Thats fantastic news, iradney, HUGE congratulations to you both.

              Dubai is VERY westernised, you will be fine in just about anything, as long as its not actually indecent! Don't wear anything too short, tight or revealing - you won't be arrested in the streets, but you may hear some rather rude comments. If you visit mosques or religious buildings, you should cover your hair out of respect.

              Everything indoors is air-conditioned and it is FREEZING, so you will definitely want cover-ups of some sort! Even in the summer Switzerland can be chilly too, remember.

              When are you planning your honeymoon?

                Thanks Daemonmonkey and Barefootgirl!

                Er...the most revealing thing I have is a short sleeve T-shirt and three quarter pants...I'm a jeans kind of gal, and I can't really do tank tops...Yay, I should be ok! I have loads of baggy shirts and stuff
