    http://consumerist.com/2010/12/diner...ach-check.html

This one just...well, read it for yourself. I think the manager went _way_ above the call of duty for these asshats.

Unfortunately the link to the original article seems to be broken.

Really? Just for saving time why not tell the restaurant up front they wanted separate checks. I don't even want to know how long it took them to figure the checks out, then get them to pay, then count the money, charge the cards, go back, wait for them to cough up more money. So they are either just oblivious or think they are being funny. Or a combination of both.
I'm the 5th horsemen of the apocalypse. Bringer of giggly bouncy doom, they don't talk about me much.

They were still $60 short at the end that one generous student coughed up (though it may have been his bill he hadn't paid for).
I think that is awful behaviour and I hope the restaurant didn't get complaints from other diners who had their service level diminished by these selfish students.

The whole situation was way too messy

But even after running 31 credit cards and collecting a pile of cash, the students were still $60 short.
        this.
too many people try to skip out on what they ordered to try to scam free food. or that their food was suddenly cheaper.

I don't think it's fair to call it a college student fail. Whoever does something like this, it's sucky.
          I'm bringing disdain back...with a vengeance.

Oh, and your tool box called...you got out again.

            ^Agreed. I wouldn't do that, and I'm a college student.

Just...wow. I've gone out to eat with large groups where we all wanted a separate check, but we asked about that up-front, if we could do that. It shouldn't be sprung on the waiter/waitress as a "surprise" at the end! Never mind the groupons...
