Well, I just got my masters feedback,

I do not mind critiques,... even when it is 25 pages worth.... but the tone of some of these academics is unprofessional, rude and demotivational.

    I had 3 exainers:

Examiner no. 1 was very very thorough and accounted for 10 pages of suggested corrections - all good ideas! All comments were objective.

Examiner no. 2 clearly did not read the thesis properly, most of his suggestions were already in place. But the tone of his comments was sarcastic and in a lit of cases belittling. However, some of the ideas this one had were quite good and reinforced examiner no. 1's comments.

Examiner no. 3 made comments like 'Was this written by a high school student or a university student?' <-- very unhelpful, sarcastic and unprofessional comment to make. This one really did not like the new ideas i was giving.

These faceless examiners hide behind their degrees and such, I reckon none of them have formal teacher training - if they they would know to never put a person down if you are trying to help them.

I think examiner 3 feels threatened...

If you will accept a piece of advice, unsolicited, I did not read your thesis paper, so I can't say, but if you want to improve your writing I'd suggest getting They say, I say That book has helped me immensely with academic writing and might help you (or anyone else reading this thread) too
That and good job on even finishing the master's thesis, I am dreading ever having to do mine.

Welcome to the wonderful world of academia, Damien! I went through something similar with my history thesis. 4 professors on my committee, and one decided to be a dick and question every minor detail he could find when I did my defense. He asked me the same question three different ways, until another prof finally said to him, "She's answered your question, and her answer makes sense. She's not going to give you a different answer. Let's move on."

        I don't know that Examiner 3 feels threatened . . . he may just be a bully.

I'd pay the most attention to Examiner 1's comments.

Look at the publications Examiner 2 and 3 have done. See if there's anything similar. Cite them favorably. It'll make them happy, and they'll get off your back.

Sounds like living proof of the game Survival of the Witless. Shooting committee members can actually help you.
NOTE: Don't play this game if you are trying to defend a thesis (or especially if trying to get tenure.) Being seen with a copy will torpedo your chances of getting the degree. (or was that just in the game? It's hard to tell.)

Seriously, though, it sounds like #3 is using what little power he has to make himself feel better by being a jerk.

Well, the good thing is that I can choose to reject the suggestions. The next person I have to satisfy with the thesis and any changes is my supervisor - and he is awesome.

How about BEING the person who looked over the master's thesis and having it rejected outright with the comment-"Get an English major to help you!"

Long story short-cousin was getting her master's thesis, asked me to look it over. I graduated with my bachelors in English. Looked it over, fixed the mistakes, etc, etc. When the professor got it back, she told Cousin to her face that it was crap. MY hard work, of fixing, editing, moving around, was CRAP. I told Cousin to deliberately leave her out of the acknowledgments. :P And before Cousin turned in the final paper, I fixed the introductory paragraph and the concluding paragraph.

              It passed. Go figure.

Anybody that say a work or thesis is crap is automatically dismissed as expert or authority regarding the matter i question.

If you have something to say about my work, then be subjective and give encouraging critics, in other words be a professional.
