  • Coffee Shop Suck

On Wednesdays I always go to the mall to walk around and get a coffee at a local bookstore that has a coffee shop in it. It's my little treat to myself for putting up with sucky customers and I like talking to the guys there. It gives me my weekly dose of comic book geekiness.

Sadly my usual guys weren't there today and I felt very bad for the guy who was on register this afternoon. There was a pretty long line and it was made longer by two douchebags and their father. Instead of going to the check out inside the store to buy their books they went to cafe to check out.

What should have taken me 5 minutes, ended up being close to 15 because the amount of books these people were buying. They gave the poor guy behind the counter a blank stare when he asked them if they wanted to get coffee too and if not there was a check out in the store.

I'm just glad I was next in line and got my delicious, coffee-y drink and it let mom rest her arms from all her bags. Bath and Body had an amazing sale.

That was sucky of them; I'm thinking they figured the coffee line was shorter than the store line, or they were really too stupid to notice everyone waiting for coffee...

It was the former. I was right behind them and the father was telling them how smart they were for going to the cafe instead of the regular check out.

And what if the cafe wasn't set up to ring up bookstore merchandise? Would Daddy and Junior have stood there and stared blankly at them, holding up the line even longer? Some folks are so self-centered.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Yes, that is the case in the bookstores I frequent that have a coffee place too - the coffee line is for coffee (tea, cookies... you get the drift) but you can not pay for books there.
