This is my first post here at CS.com (though I had perused the boards some time ago, I have not had internet since 2008). TIA for welcoming. This is about a customer who wasn't very nice to me (another customer).
In December, my mother in law, myself, and husband went to a grocery store that we don't normally visit (it is a one-location store). This time was because of a sale, and because husband likes to buy his tobacco there (it's cheaper). I was 6 months pregnant at this time.
As is the norm for our outings, I ended up pushing the cart. It was getting very heavy towards the end due to MIL buying a lot of food, and my poor hips were already pained. After we got to the end of the trip, husband goes to the separate counter for tobacco purchases while MIL buys a lottery ticket from the kiosk. I parked myself behind her and waited.
Bear in mind, the entry to this store is easily two times bigger than any Mart of Wal entrance, with two large automatic doorways and a ginormous front lobby. As I'm standing behind my MIL by the kiosk (which doesn't block the doorway in one bit), an older couple pulls up behind me and flat-out refuses to go around, the old man instead "harrumph"ing and tapping the ground with his cane in an impatient manner. I gestured for him to move past me, but he didn't take the hint until I said, "You can go around, please."
At this point he gives me an awful face (some sinister offspring of the catbutt face) and retorts, "It's not like it's that easy, young woman!" before moving past me (with little effort, even).
...I was more offended at the tone he used to say "young woman" than the entitlement he seemed to possess (get out of my way?). I usually don't get upset about petty things like that, but I was clearly pregnant and not even in the way! If walking past someone at the huge entrance is that hard for him, how is he going to make it across the parking lot?
