    Things hurt right now. Why?

    I was in a car accident. >.<

Number one lesson learned: Wear the seat belt.

Number two lesson learned: Left turn yields suck in a small town.

Essentially, there's three stoplights in the town I'm in, one after another. The middle one is where two major roads crossover, so there's a lot of traffic. The main road I was on is a four lane (two lanes each way), with no separate turn lane. So when you get to the stop light, each side has a left turn/straight lane and a right turn/straight lane.

So I'm driving home from school to pick up some things before I drive another half hour for the grad class I'm taking. No seatbelt because it's only five minutes to my house, and I'm literally going to jump out, grab the crap I need, and jump back in when I get home. That was the reasoning at least...plus all three lights are green, so it's all good, right?

When I get to the second light, there's a line in the left hand lane b/c of all the people who want to turn. I think, "No biggie" and keep going.

Suddenly there's this blue car turning from the opposite direction to go onto the crossroad right in front of me! Big deal! Try to brake, doesn't work, and smash goes the cars.

    Owies.

The front fender and light on the passenger side are completely crushed in.

Fortunately, the cops are pinning it on the other driver, so I should hopefully be able to fix car soonish. Now if only my back would stop hurting...

Glad you're ok. It may be a good idea to have your back x-rayed, though.

So...going to the doctor now. Lots of pain and I'm sure walking at school to teach didn't help. >.< Hate going to the doctor's...

Ouch. Sorry to hear about that. I had severe unbearable back and neck pain after I rolled my car 4 years ago. Hopefully yours can be fixed by a good realignment. I had 3 months of physical therapy and it was a blessing when it was over.

            Good luck with the doc.

              Thanks Kara.

It's actually being healed with muscle relaxers and lots of sleep. I think I've been up a total of...4 hours today? Maybe? Either way, it's been awesome.

I hope you feel better soon. Car accidents are never fun things. I've been fighting with mine for over a month now (but it involved fairly serious injury, a drunk driver that lacked insurance, my car being totaled and the other car being leased so it is a tangle.)

I don't know the precise numbers, but it's said that the vast majority of car accidents occur within five miles of home.
