  • Going crazy in Walmart

Yes, I know a lot of you might have gone crazy in Wally World or have seen crazy people there but this guy literrally went crazy in the store. It happened a few months ago so some of details might be a bit fuzzy. I was with my mom and she was mainly doing grocery shopping.

Anyway we were in the grocery section (this a super center) and we were over where the meats are (or one of the aisles I can't really remember). Anyway we hear a woman yelling and then something crashing in the clothing section. We and everyone one in the food section (as well as the whole store) went towards the clothing which was next to the grocery section. A couple of the racks were knocked down and a young man (possibly in his 20s) was knocking down stuff. He stopped and pretty much everyone in the store stopped what they were doing to see what was going on.

I don't really remember what else he did but I do remember another customer telling him to go to the front of the store but the young man refused. Anyway I think a lot of the customers were looking at the young man and the employees I think handled it well. Anyway the young man did run up to the front and knocked down a few more things. I think he ran into someone but I can't really remember if it was another customer or a employee. After that pretty much things went back to normal and everybody continue on with their shopping or work. The cops were called because we saw a police car when we left and the employees cleaned the mess he made.

Anyway it was pretty much the only thing people could talked about and figuring out why he acted that way. I am assuming that he is not welcome at that Walmart anymore.

    Wow. That's pretty scary.
I've never really gone crazy in a Walmart, but me and three other people did go to one when we ran out of munchies at a slumber party and ran around pretending to be velociraptors. Does that count?

This doesn't surprise me at all. At our Walmart, a guy got pissed because he couldn't find some stuff he wanted, so he went down the cosmetics aisle and swept his arm across a few shelves, knocking stuff to the floor.

Another time, some lady in an electric wheelchair plowed through the women's department and knocked over a rack. Her response? "Well it was in my way!"

Guess who got to clean up the mess both times?

Well, I guess so in a way I mean you are acting like a bipedal dinosaur and I think it would be more funny than scary to see that. But I am sure some people would be more scared if the see someone act like that.

I saw a guy walk into my store with half of a chair once. A few minutes later, he was being escorted out by two managers, the head of Loss Prevention/Safety, and a police officer. Apparently he'd finally crossed a line and they were very glad to have a reason to perma-ban him.

Years ago I worked in a grocery story, and coming back from break I pass my coworker who is laughing so hard and tells me that some wacko just came in the store yelling, "I AM THE MASTER!!! I AM THE MASTER..."

*Not sure if this one counts because the guy in question most likely had some form of autism, just sharing because he was normally not disruptive*

A few years back, we had a woman and her son who would regularly visit the library, and while she would be using a computer, he was standing silently behind her, or in a corner somewhere. But then one day, he (for whatever reason) decided he was NOT going to exit via the front door, and he was NOT going to move in a specific direction.......he started running around the library, and it ended up that staff helped his mother coax him into leaving through the staff exit door.

I've always said Walmart was the melting pot of the world. All types of people shop there and I do mean ALL types, regardless of wealth, race, gender, etc. And some of those shoppers are people with mental issues. I remember one shift I arrived at work to see a section up front taped off and they were finishing cleaning up the blood. Some poor guy had suddenly dropped to his knees and began beating his head on the ground. There's been others, but that was the closest I came to something like that.

That's the problem, I've noticed, since I've been employed at the little shop of horrors for five years.

They'll let just anyone shop there. And just anyone is usually a rampaging lunatic. I've seen a lot worse there from entitled, or drunk, or drugged out, or 'you don't have what I came to buy' shoppers than merely knocking over the clothing racks.

It also seems that everyone insists on coming to my job when they don't feel well.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

I don't suppose the Doctor came to get him?

Silliest thing I ever did in a store was when my next-youngest sister graduated from elementary school. Her school had a big ceremony and the kids all dressed up really nice. Afterward, we stopped at a local supermarket. She and I walked through the aisle arm in arm (she was wearing a long dress and carrying roses) proclaiming, "we just got married!"

We thought it was hysterical for some reason. This was in the mid 70's, long before same-sex marriage was ever talked about. Now I don't suppose anyone would even blink, or maybe they'd offer us congratulations.

Some of the parents were freaked out. Their kids love us though. We got a five year old to pretend to be a t-rex, it was fun enough to keep me from questioning why kids were at the Walmart at ten at night.

You know, I always wanted to walk around Walmart singing "The Fight Song of the Brunnen-G", to see if anyone else would join in...

Both the funniest and scariest person we had come in Wally World I will call "Frank" as in old blue eyes..99% of the time he would be quite amusing. Walking down a isle and break into song and dance. He was actually pretty good at both.

It was that other 1% that had everybody worried though. He would come in, stop in the middle of the store..and throw a temper tantrum. Full on hitting the floor, kicking, crying, whole nine yards. Then as suddenly as he started he'd stop.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.
