  • Magical Wednesday

Today was interesting. In the best possible way. Well, best short of coming home to find a naked Anna Paquin in my bed waiting for me.

--I finally met the weasel that is managing the apartment complex, who I had only talked to on the phone. He was just as I imagined him to be, and that rarely happens. Totally spineless douche, and I had to make myself not laugh at him. I took advantage of his weakness and his desire to avoid further confrontation with me over this whole sewer/trash nonsense to get something out of him that very few other tenants have. I was also entertained by his bitching to me about how much he hates his job and this town, and can't wait to get out. While he's here, though, I am pretty sure I am going to be able to use him to my advantage. Idiot.

--The toy shop was pretty busy, and I was performing almost nonstop, rather than sitting there reading much of the time. Also made more tips than usual, an added bonus.

--Booked a private magic show for a kid's birthday party next Sunday. Bonus to this is that it's a nice chunk of change into my pocket for a very short time period (30-40 minute show). Added bonus is that it's on a day when I am already scheduled off, so I don't have to give up a shift to do this. Even more bonus from being scheduled off, I won't be exhausted from work and rushing to get there, I'll just be very chill. Even MORE bonus is that these people know me, they used to be regulars at the restaurant where I do magic, and my presence and performance is going to be a surprise for the 12 year old birthday girl.

--Made a nice deposit in my bank accounts. Yes, plural. I had started a second account a while back to help me save up to move back to Phoenix (once the economy there gets out of the crapper), but in recent months, it had just stagnated at an unimpressive level. Well, I recently instituted a new forced savings plan on myself, and it is working well, so in addition to making a nice little deposit in my regular account, for the second week in a row, I have watched my savings grow.

--Unlike last week, very little drama at the restaurant, and again made more tips than usual.

--Continued to flirt via text with an amazing girl I hooked up with two weeks ago here, who may be coming back to town sometime soon.

Now chilling for a bit and unwinding before I head out on my (as of last week) regular Wednesday night 5 mile jog.

All in all, a good day. And, holy shit....not one real major douchebag, on the road, at either of my jobs, anywhere. Coolio!

Hope y'all are having as good a day as I am!

Well, yesterday was a pretty crap day. It started in the ER, because Fiance was having a lot of pain in his left arm. They sent him home at 3:30 am, after they completed all the tests and could say that nothing was wrong with his heart, veins, or blood. Oh, and they shot him up with morphine to stop the pain. Get him home and in bed, and get a couple of hours of sleep myself. Get up, call his boss, sleep an hour. Get up, e-mail and call professors and the department secretary, sleep an hour. Get up again, say "fuck this" and just stay up. After I finally contacted all relevant parties, I was able to stay home with him until the pain meds wore off. Got lunch, got him up to eat something, tried to do work, ended up watching Animal Planet instead, etc.

So, at the end of this craptacular day, I'm exhausted, I'm cranky, and I'm starving with no actual energy to cook. Fiance was feeling much better, though. So, we decided to order dinner from this little cafe that's in a gas station. You heard me. In the corner of a Phillips 66 is the best Italian restaurant in town. I call, we pick it up, bring it home, and dig in. This is the "magical" part.

It was the best restaurant meal that I've had in ages. He got a chicken parm sandwich. When I got him to part with a bite - WOW. The best sandwich I've had in memory. Crusty bread, just the right amount of cheese and sauce, and wonderfully crispy chicken. It came with a side of pasta with cheese sauce, which was also amazing. The chef changes the menu with the seasons, but mac'n'cheese is a regular item, and now I must try it! I got something called penne abruzzi, which was penne, onions, peppers, and sun-dried tomatoes tossed in a cheesy, creamy, tomato-y sauce. Topped with bacon, mozzarella, and three of the best and biggest meatballs I've ever had. Add to that breadsticks with a sensational homemade dipping sauce and....*sigh* It was the perfect end to a terrible day. As an added benefit, the carb coma combined with my exhaustion, so I was able to pass out at 9:00 and get some much needed sleep.
