  • Human Memory FAIL

Earlier in the week a CW got a call from a exec saying their keyboard had failed. They grabbed a spare and headed off to look at the situation. They returned a short while later with the new keyboard still in hand. Very quickly a copy of the ticket was passed around IT with the following resolution:

"<CW> tested keyboard. No issues. Questioned user. Determined that user had not pulled out keyboard tray, causing erratic operation."

We suspect the user had someone pull out the tray before they arrived because it had been in place for several years, based on the particular desk they had. That day, no one did, or gave up.

Today I get a call from the same user. Guess what the problem was.

They had somehow managed to log-in, so I instructed them to pull out the tray and enter the "very special" ctrl+alt+del combo, than exit the task manager to "fix" thee keyboard.

I am now the smartest person they know.
