  • Kirstie Alley and Dancing (or the concept of beauty)

Ok I tend to avoid 'dancing with the stars' (preferred so you think you can dance haven't seen it around for a bit) like the plague. However..a recent conversation about beauty and seeing her dance has gotten me hooked. Here is a slightly older woman who is plus sized..and while I've only seen week one..she has some moves. Not normally a fan of hers, but this is more about beauty. Confidence helps a lot .

If you get a chance watch week 1, season 12..you might see what I mean..if not it is all good. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Of course..there are more beautiful women out there..*grins* but in some cases I am biased *looks at Marmalady*
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.

I tend to think a bautiful woman is beautiful no matter what age.

You don't love a woman because she is beautiful - she is beautiful because you love her

(same applies to the dudes, of course!)

So true. And I love that you used the word "dudes", as I'm from CA.

I agree 100%, people get too caught up in the physical, when the emotional connection will more stand the test of time. I was impressed with the performance. While the other 'plus sized' woman (I forget the name think a talk show host) not so much. Both, however have a 'out there' attitude that makes them attractive.

Kirstie is a shoe-in for a Valkyrie, in her not-obese moments. (She'd have to audition with the weight, but probably still get it). Her beauty tends to be more classical than drop-dead. I hope she finds her 'center,' weight and other wise.
            EDIT: wait she's sixty??! crazy...

Sophia Loren was utterly gorgeous in her later years as well. Check her on Google Images - there's a few where she was overly made up, but others where she's more natural-look, yet old, where she's even more beautiful than the younger photographs.

I saw a link where some fuss was made because she and her partner fell down during that show. The main reason I clicked on it was because I remembered this thread and thought I'd like to see her dance.

She was beautiful on so many levels. The fall was so graceful and low key it hardly merited comment. They just got back up and did their dance and it was just wonderful.

Their falling down was probably more graceful than my dancing.

Yes, and it should be pointed out that they fell because Maxim (her professional partner) had a spasm in his leg and he dropped her. A lot of haters on the internet have been making it sound like she tripped and fell, when it wasn't her fault. Other than that incident, it was a beautiful dance.

Actually, Kirstie's in her late 60's. She faked her age years ago, and has knocked off a couple more since.

Considering that, she's even more amazing.

Yeah, you could see that his leg failed when he tried to get up. They were already pretty low to the floor, and to me it looked like his leg gave out and he fell over, taking her down with him. They both very gracefully went with it, got back up, and continued as if nothing happened. If you were to blink, you would have missed it.

Hell, I read that it was sort of a "I've overcome some crap" themed dance, so with that in mind, the fall was extremely fitting, as was they way they didn't let it stop them.

*nods* when I first saw the fall..I actually thought it was part of the dance..ie the 'over come the fall' scenario. Afterward, however, she was so graceful it was not funny. I mean I know that the judges had to judge for the whole dance (including the fall), but it was one of the, if not the best dance of the night for me.
