  • You really had to ask? (short)

Towards the end of my day I was using the restroom when I noticed one of the urinals didn't flush at all either though the motion censor or the button. I try the other - it flushes.

Knowing how my office works (everyone assumes someone else does it) I called the building manager's office to let them know.

I tell them the the urinal on our floor's bathroom is not flushing (there is only one bathroom per floor). Then they ask:

"Is it the men's room or the women's room?"

I almost commented that I have seen urinals in some women's rooms, especially at airports, but then I re-read:

    DOH!!
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Well, I meant one set of bathrooms and I've NEVER heard of urinals in women's bathrooms (and I'm sure my office didn't put them in).

A quick story from when my sister was in college:

While visiting the dorm, our mom went into what she thought was the women's bathroom, but she saw urinals on the wall and immediately left. It turned out that the building hadn't always been a women's dorm, and they hadn't bothered to yank out the urinals when they repurposed it.

Actually there were female urinals previously, and they may be making a comeback.

I can remember seeing them on rt 15 in NY back when it was a toll road in the early 70s, we were heading into CT to visit relatives in Westport.

Better than hovering, they were designed back in the day of garter belt hose instead of pantyhose. Take the panties off, and straddle facing the wall. No need to balance while hovering. Also means [if you are careful when taking the panties off] no clothing hitting the floor and getting soiled. Not as much good now in the era of women wearing pantyhose or pants ...

Why yes, I have actually used one =)
