I can't wait for it. To say I love the Muppets is a huge understatement. I am also looking forward to The Dark Crystal sequel and the Fraggle Rock movie.

There's going to be a Dark Crystal Sequel? Do you know I've never actually seen the Dark Crystal. I have it and the 2 times I've tried to watch it, I've slept through the entire thing!

I think I must see this movie.

It's not in Swedish, is it?

We had to watch it for Year 8 English. We wound up watching it twice because we started it and couldn't get through the whole thing the first time around.

Same here. Just looking up when it gets released in Ausland. (looks like it may be in time for Christmas or at least early 2012)

There's also a Smurfs film coming out as well (8th September in Ausland)

I'm on the fence with this. Jason Segel is a big plus (who else would do well with the muppets?) but some of the muppets in the previews seem CGI. IMO that's an abomination.

As for the story / movie itself, it looks like it is a typical muppet movie (but isn't that what we love?).

Jim was not afraid to use CGI for the Muppets. See his Red Book entry on the matter- http://www.henson.com/jimsredbook/2011/04/18/4-1988/
I don't really care for it, but I can see times where it would make sense to use CGI to reduce physical stress on the Muppets' hired hands and for the character to be able to do something that would be impossible with a puppet.
The hand and rod Muppets aren't that heavy- Kermit is about eleven pounds. Having that weight held above the head hurts after a few minutes. Jim Henson spent several hours a day in a 50-gallon steel drum that was submerged in a pond during the 'Rainbow Connection' scene from the Muppet Movie. It took five days to shoot. I know I wouldn't have been able to do that.
The full-body puppets can hurt the preformer(s) too. Jerry Nelson (Floyd; Robin, Kermit's nephew) injured his back while preforming as Snuffy on Sesame Street back in the 1970s.

I gotta admit....I geeked out when I saw this trailer. Hopefully it's as good as it implies.

YAY!!!! The Mrs & I loved the Muppets,we watched the show every week & saw all the movies.

Too bad Buddy's not around anymore,he was a fan of the show.

In fact,he was a big fan of Ronnie Verrell, the drummer who taught Animal how to play .It almost goes without saying that Ronnie was a fan of Buddy, but the 2 had never met. When they did meet on the show Ronnie was astounded & flattered that Buddy liked his playing so much & the 2 of them got along very well
