  • Today's Kitty Tale

I swear, every day that I go to my parents' house, I could write a little story about Tiger the over-sized kitten.

This morning, I gave Bear the dog a special treat on top of her usual Beggin Strip. I gave her one of those dental bones that comes with a chewy middle. For some reason, Bear is super particular about bones and pig-ear treats, she only wants to eat them outside. I had forgotten about this, not living there anymore, and I noticed as soon as I gave it to her, she headed towards the door.

It was unbearably hot out, so even though I let her out, I stayed nearby the big sliding glass door just to keep an eye on her as she ate her bone, that she would be ok. It was 85 degrees at that moment, around 8:30.

Tiger likes to watch from the inside of the door when Bear is outside, and sometimes just to bully his own reflection.

At this point in time, there was a fly on the other side of the door, buzzing about. Tiger must have thought it was on his side, because he started batting at it. Even got up on his hind legs trying to swat at it. And as per usual, he can't "meow", he squeaks these little meeews that sound almost like a bird cooo-ing.

It got to a point where he squashed one side of his face against the glass and was angrily pawing at the glass, now in a meewwwwing frenzy. It was so priceless and funny to watch.

A while later, since a day can't go by that he doesn't do this, he got on his hind legs while I was filling his water bubbler (this kitten is getting so big he's up to my hips when on his hind haunches), and swatted my butt and kept harrassing me to get his water faster, now.

I love that cat. I am so glad we have him.

Hehe. My boycat likes to swat at bugs on the other side of the window, too. The storm door in my parents' front door is just a frame with a single pane of glass from top to bottom, and in the evening when the inner door is open and the porch light is on, he gets plenty of entertainment value. We have to make sure the door is locked because sometimes it doesn't catch properly and there have been a few times he almost managed to open it just by jumping at things on the other side.

There's a window with a crank in my parents' livingroom (three giant windows altogether), and we had to quit leaving it open for the cats because Tiger has gotten so big and curious that the screen is starting to give from being pushed on so hard.

Awww. I wish my kitty (Tigger, close to your cat's name) was that playful still. He's getting to be an old man though. On a rather cheesy sidenote, you should get another pet and name it Lion. Lion(s) and Tiger(s) and Bear(s)! !Oh my!

I use nicknames.....I don't use my pets' real names, unfortunately.
