  • A year of Slow cooker recipes

Basically this woman took it upon herself a challenge to cook dinner every night in a croc pot. And blog the recipes. Some true goodness has come out of the experiment. Her writing style is entertaining as well.

Bookmarked to peruse later. I enjoy using my slow cooker to make meals (it's so freaking easy!) and am always looking for more recipes my (ridiculously picky) family might like. Thanks for posting the link!

Heh. when I left work a couple of days ago I mentioned I was going home to pull some pork. I swear they thought I meant sex or um self-play... until I said I was serious... I put pork in the slow-cooker and by the time I got home it would be ready to shred.

Still have some left over I think, unless my BF took it to work. Granted we used the package mix for the spices, although where the mix called for ketchup we used Dinosaur Slather Sauce.

hmm... maybe that could work with shepherd's (has lamb) / cottage (has beef) pie. well up until the mash potato part. just let the meat & spices simmer in the slow cooker all day long then toss mashers on top and call it food.

Of course the one downside to it is... what about the electric bill? I mean running a crock pot what, 10 hours a day can't be good for your utility bill.

It's a very low electrical draw. Actually easier on the electric bill than using the stove every day.

        Thanks, Akasa, I think I might be using this . . .

OMG I have one of her recipes in my crockpot right now! General Tso's chicken in the "light and healthy" section. I can't wait to go home and eat it!!!!

I found out about her blog on MyFitnessPal. I also agree that her writing style makes it a fun read.

Ok, this is great! I use my Crockpot quite a lot, although I'm not able to prep it before work (I get up at 3:05am, and don't want to get up a minute earlier...).

I'll be digging through her recipes for a while...

Oh I love this.....I have a huge beautiful crockpot that I love using. Yes it's easy.....and it's awesome to come home and have dinner ready! I don't like to prep it that morning either so I usually do it the night before, put it on low, then on warm for the rest of the day. It stays at a good temp but doesn't over cook....at least not that day.

So far our favorite was the Pepercinni beef. The Cream cheese chicken was a close second.

BTW there are slow cooker pouches to put in your slow cookers that make it so you don't have to clean the inside of your croc pot when your done, you get 5 for $3. You can find them with the saran wrap.

I prep crock pot recipes the night before, and put it in the fridge overnight. My husband usually puts the stuff in (I leave too early and stuff would burn) and he won't prep stuff in the AM.
