  • "The internet is really really great.....FOR PORN!"

    I'm lucky, I'm super lucky!

A local theatre company is putting on Avenue Q. With Adelaide-made puppets.

And I am going to see it

Now all I have to do is NOT sing along to the songs.

That's cool! And I'm amazed that they were able to get the rights, I thought it was still touring? Well, maybe not in Australia. At any rate....awesome!

Ohh have fun. I saw it when it came by Bristol in May (I think), good luck with not singing along .

You know, I'm not a big musical guy. I can name one movie I can watch, and exactly two stage shows. One of them is Avenue Q, without a doubt. Best time you can have watching puppets (unless drunk and Sesame Street is on)

Funny thing....new research has proven Avenue Q wrong. The internet is now really really great...for social networking. More people go online for that than for porn!

The only things I remember hearing about the Australian production when it came out were that instead of Gary Coleman telling Polack jokes, he told Irish jokes (...those dumb fuck paddies) and the words in "For now" were changed slightly. Oh and that instead of Rod reading "Broadway Musicals of the 1940's" he was reading "Broadway musicals-the Golden Years".

For everyone's interest, here's what the Aussie version sounded like. I didn't see it then. The only actor I know right off the top of my head was Kate's puppeteer-her name is Michala Banas and she's done TV work, that's ALL I know her from.

"If you were gay" Australia version If you skip the bit where Kerri-Anne doesn't shut up... I found it funny how Nickys right hand managed to keep a straight face... (this is them in rehearsal, so if it sounds a bit stripped, that's why)

The More You Ruv Someone Ignoring the hosts, this was the first time I heard Australian Christmas Eve and Kate. She's pretty good....

Australian Mix Tape Another rehearsal piece, hence the understudy and the piano-only. The understudy here sounds really cute. (she was the female puppeteer in If you Were gay) Princeton sounds a bit odd....>.>

The Internet Is For porn Australia This one was done live so it may sound a little odd. Michala probably sounds a bit off here but her facial expressions crack me up (as does her interacting with the audience...). The song does drag on a bit but then again this was done at the Comedy Festival...

I LOVE Avenue Q. Saw it last month in Cardiff and again words were changed to suit the local audience. But it's a fantastic show.
There's a brilliant video on Youtube of Kate and Trekkie singing Popular from Wicked. Oh and they've just brought out a script for schools to do a tame version. Lucy The Slut is just Lucy, and The Internet Is For Porn has become My Social Life Is Online.

How do they explain Lucy's song? Also "My Social life is online" doesn't really make sense >.>

"My Social Life Is Online" is about the dangers of only having friends on the internet and not real life friends. It's weird!

                          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcU4-i78hqo

Mrs T is also now Mrs Butz, and they cut "My Girlfriend Who Lives in Canada", "You Can Be As Loud As The Hell You Want", as well as most of the Bad Idea Bears stuff and a LOT of the language. Although it's rumoured the Schools Edition may have been pulled because there was probably no show left after all the unsuitable bits were removed!

They cut out the best song! If you ever youtube it and watch the puppeteer's facial expressions while hes performing the song....add that with Rods facial expressions, I choked on my drink when I watched it.

There was a joke a long time ago, that proved to be truish... back when I worked at The Chesterfield, we had a guy try to return a box set of the Sopranos... only, it had come from WalMart, so we knew it had been edited...
As the joke goes, "So, it's one disc long, and has about ten minutes of footage...?"
Yup. We refused the return, obviously.
