so who figured out he set up his own murder soon as he ask mab who killed him?

What I didn't see was her keeping his body alive and mab counting on his spirit to return.

and Molly kicks ASS! and butters with a nice hefty knowledge of anatomy, I just don't think murphy got enough "screen time" but thats just me.

    thoughts comments?

I knew there definitely had to be something up with the fact that there was no body to be found.

And in my head, when we got the three clues to his killer, the first thing that popped into my head was "hehehe...that could totally fit Dresden seeing as how the book keeps talking about him killing the entire Red Court!" but honestly I don't know that I took my joking thought seriously till later when I started to wonder Didn't think I'd be quite so close in my theory.

Also, while I would have loved more Murphy, I can kind of see how it worked better without. She's always been a better presence in the books once she started to believe. I don't just mean more interesting but she fit better sort of. It made more sense for her to be around more. At the beginning she didn't strongly believe in Dresden or at least was skeptical. Which meant that she didn't spend a whole lot of time with him directly fighting crime even while being a main character. In this book she was back to doubting a lot. Don't know if my sleep addled brain explained that right or not but while I love Murphy, her being scarce made sense to me.

I definitely loved Butter and Bob together!

I saw both his death and return coming. After all, who had he talked to about killing a wizard before? Plus, Mab wouldn't be so keen on losing her Knight so soon. I just didn't think she'd involve Demonreach.

I love the character development of Molly, going from a perky goth chick to a heavyweight wizard in her own right. She might be strong enough to be Chicago's protective wizard some time.

      my favorite part:
"He greeted me with a quote from The Empire Strikes Back."
Murphy's mouth twitched at one corner. "Him."

I knew he had to come back. Butcher wouldn't end the series with Dresden dying like that.

Made sense with who his killer was, but I was surprised at Molly's involvement there. But that also made sense.

But what I really love is how Dresden put Mab in her place. Without breaking any rules. That was awesome!

My boyfriend finished reading it before I did, and every once in a while he would look up and say something that would relate to the part of the book he was at without giving anything away. Like when he got to the part about being inside Bob's head... hehe... he looked up at me and sang "The internet is for porn!" And that only Harry would tell something that has, is, and will always be what it is.. "Fine, be that way."

How about Butters being revived by Marci and Andi who apparently are both good looking and very naked?

"Wow," Butters slurred as he opened his eyes. He looked back and forth between the two werewolf girls. "Subtract the horrible pain in my chest, this migraine, and all the mold and mildew, and I'm living the dream."
            Then he passed out.

I think my favorite part was in reference to Corpsetaker not being familiar with Tolkien.
                "Tasteless bitch."

I loved what he did with Molly. And Butters- the man has hidden depths! Well, not so hidden anymore. I'll always love the image from an earlier book of Harry screaming at Butters, "Polka will never die!!"

I admit it did not occur to me that Harry had set up his own murder. I did wonder why there was no mention of Thomas until it got down to the explanations, and then it made perfect sense. However, I don't understand why Justine getting it on with another girl would make it safe for Thomas and Justine to get it on afterward. But, minor detail. Great book.

Because Justine's protected against Thomas right now. By himself. He's White Court who feeds on lust. So true love's his weakness. And Justine's his true love. So he hasn't been able to touch her for...10 books or so? And with his grief over Dresden, he's been refusing to eat at all apparently.

So Justine's solving it. Sleep with another girl, and then Thomas can feed off both of them. And since it's still true love, she'll have to do that every time since the protection will be right back up following.

He set that up in Turn Coat, I think. When Thomas and Justine were in a club and his cousin Madeline walked in. She talked about enthralling someone to seduce Justine so her protection would be lifted and she could feed on her.

I'll admit, the revelation that Dresden set up his own murder caught me by surprise, but at the same time, it made perfect sense. Dresden's been getting a lot more clever about orchestrating things. Exhibit A: the way he set up everyone on Demonreach in "Turn Coat" to, on the surface, get as many warm bodies to go up against Shagnasty, but to really just set up the traitor to get busted. ("Wile E. Coyote, suuuuuuper genius!")

And goddamn, Mort took some major levels in badass in this book. I especially like that he fed Corpsetaker to her own wraiths.

Hell, everyone took some levels in badass. Murphy, Molly, Butters... damn, I can't wait for "Cold Days" to come out.

                            So would I!

However, there are other authors who need that kind of investment more than Butcher does.

                            Like George R. R. Martin.
