  • Not to steal Irene's thunder, but

we just had a thunderstorm with hurricane-force winds and halfthe tree out front is on the ground. We do get nasty storms, but I've never seen a tree hit that bad. The last storm we had brought down 2 huge branches. Those of you with my FB have seen the picture. Not a fun way to wake up. It's headed for Becks' and Racketman's territory, if anyone wants to send out prayers/good thoughts.

      Sure, forget about me.

It actually got pretty damn windy by me. Lights flickered a couple times but didn't go completely out. One of the neighbors had a good-sized tree branch down in their yard.

Sometimes natural disasters do double- or triple- strikes. And everyone deserves a chance to vent and to get care.

I'm glad the tree didn't come down on anyone!

In Becks' & RM's city there were up to 75 mph winds. I missed it, but my apt manager was in my building at the time and saw the rain rotate, which is probably why the tree in front of my building (my apt specifically) was damaged so much. Huge branches came off at the trunk, one end of which was a good 8 or 9 inches wide at that part. They fell on the buildng across from me, but didn't break any windows. There is a branch on their roof. The sirens went off twice, so my coworkers and customers got locked in for safety twice in one day. Because so many customers were without power, and our other store in town was out, too, we totally made sales. I've never sold so many flashlights, lol. I am just glad to have elecricity. And Irv, I just didn't think it was going to go your direction. When I did see that, I said a prayer for you.

I woke up this morning just in time to see the 60+ MPH straightline winds blow throught right before the storm and massive rain hit. at first I wondered why it was still so dark outside. I thought I had woke up way early but realized after looking at the clock what was going on. I saw the tree accross the street bend WAAAYYYY over (much more than it should have)
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

I saw the radar this morning before work was over. Looked like some nasty stuff.

All that happend was some grumble thunder, lots of rain during the morning, by afternoon it was cloudly/partly sunny.

A couple of hours ago, pounding rain woke me up. Then just about an hour or so ago, it happened again. It was really coming down!

Not sure where we are but we have slow moving tropical storm Lee making landfall on he northern gulf coast (TX, LA, AL, MS area). He's expected to dump up to 20 inches of rain, too bad it can't be spread out to where it is needed.
