  • Yet Another 'Spiral' Story (language, a little gross)

Mine began back in December, when through an abusive family situation, I moved in with the b/f (I will call him Al, as he looks like a bearded Weird Al).

Things were fine for a while, until March of this year, when their car quit and I (having had a few sick days and having had SEVERAL write-ups for different things, mainly missing days or being sick. I was 1 write-up away from being fired) walked there (about a 5 mile walk, my first trek of the sort in...forever) and quit.

Yes, I quit Malmart. I know someone who was fired from there and 2-3 years later could only get work through staffing agencies. Didn't want to be him.

I was out of work until about May (though I was applying everywhere online), when I signed up for a staffing agency. It was good for a while--one or two days here, and there, but I ended up having a hospital bill (CT scan from October) age and go to collections.

And then, then the first of June came. I got a new assignment at Bottle Fillers factory, where Al works. Okay, great! It's fulltime and about $8 an hour.

I show up, and get on the line.

In less than an hour, I passed out. (Thankfully, they told Al "Go WITH HER. You are fine. Go on, go." Most places aren't that nice!)

Queue trip to the hospital, pregnancy test (negative), thyroid check (blood test, didn't show anything). It was finally decided that it was heat exhaustion. The nice nurses also told me that my dry lips were not in fact normal, but BAD and a sign of dehydration. This ER visit and the Holter monitor I ended up getting cost me almost $2,000....and this is getting ready to age out. Filled out financial assistance form ...

Speak of the fucking DEVIL! I JUST GOT AN EMAIL FROM THE HOSPITAL. Guess how much I owe them now? $50. Wooo!

...anyway. I started drinking way more water after that.

Now I am getting work here and there, which I find difficult due to my GI difficulties. Remember those commercials about incontinence? I have the same worry...only....not with that system, but with another. At random times.

It doesn't help that I can't lift more than about 15 pounds (even that is asking for it, because...well, I...lifted something about 16 pounds, and ended up with chest pain).

So I'm applying to colleges. I found one that is wonderful. A former women's college. Expensive as hell but very good. I don't have parents info, blah blah, financial aid... to fastweb I go.

    The main problem is the $20 I don't have to apply. It's a $35 fee, and I have $15.

To the bookstore--even if Al protests, college's more important than my books. Those, I can always get back later.

I have a place to stay, food, and all. No matter what I do have that.

Now if I could just find work...I've been doing minor editing jobs, but it's not enough to keep on. The agency doesn't seem to call much. (The last time they did was for a 3 hour shift 20 minutes away. That wouldn't even cover the gas to get there)

Thanks for letting me get this out and mods, feel free to delete or move this thread.
