    Smeg - just lost a Tengu in Eve. Stuck on scenery as I tried to warp out.

    Expensive error - current fit I run is about 600 mill game currency.

    Post yours!

    Like in the old days of EQ (pre Luclin, ports were expensive as heck, paid for SOW) you made a run from Faydwer to Qeynos only to remember you forgot to buy one critical component back in Faydwer?

    (Mind you - that trek would usually take 4-6 hours, depending on boats and the availability of SOW though some rather interesting areas).

      The old EVE alliance Mostly Harmless dissolved, and the corp had to bail out of i-7/CH9 and I ended up getting sick, so I couldn't log in for 3 weeks, then we lost electricity and internet for a week.

      1 fully set up orca 800 mil
      1 fully set up sigil 400 mil
      4 fully set up hulks 800 mill
      4 fully set up mackinaws 600 mill
      1 fully set up skiff 200 mil
      1 fully set up harbinger - corp gift to me, not sure how much it cost CC to arrange
      1 fully set up armageddon 300 mil

      all my planetary output of P1, P2, P3 and P4 - 2.4 bil, I was running up to a new aeon.

      The miscellaneous contents of my hangar, probably 100 mil or so of assorted mining crystals and suchlike. Being amarr i don't use ammo, I am laser based.

      And i don't have a clone there to sell it all off, and I am not entirely certain that I can manage to find a hauler that can manage to jump it all out. If I can find someone to jump it all out, they can't bring the orca - it won't fit in a jump freighter even stripped of rigs and repackaged. The other stuff is all rigged, so to repackage would trash an amazing amount of isk in rigs.

      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      However, it is all electrons. As long as I can get my ass into a newbie ship with a civilian mining laser, I can work my way back into a hulk - I did it once as a bet, 30 days from nub ship into a fully loaded hulk. Training doesn't go away [as long as you keep your clone updated]
      So I am now set up in Omist, the arse end of ghu knows where, I have a hulk, a mack and a new harbi, and a set of planetary command centers. Ill have it all back in a while.
        Wow. Worst I had happen was losing a rigged Abbadon(?) to server lag.
        I think I let my account expire soon after. ;p
          In kingdom of loathing, they have more than a few raffles, contests, prizes, and other forms of gambling/blurring the line. They have a 'game' where it's literally you and someone else placing a 'bet,' then it's randomly decided who wins-- a coin toss, essentially.
          People lose billions in the MMG. Me? I've come out about 4 million ahead? Yeah I got lucky. X_x Even considering doing the MMG is a fail in my book... (this is a game where millions take a bit to do, or rl cash). Theoretically you should break even... but damn.
          Sometimes you can auto-sell irreplaceable or items that go for millions in the Mall... I haven't quite done that yet, thank God.
            Most heartsick moment I can recall outside of typical console gaming fails (brother deleted my saves, someone stole my memory card, etc etc)
            I still remember back when I was in my first few months of WoW, and I'd spent a couple of months just absolutely earning up a ton of gold. I had 200k, a monstrous sum at the time. A person I knew in game approached me one day, asking if I wanted to buy a Spectral Tiger. The rarest mount available. He was asking 175k, which was insane, but I was lost in the "OMGGGGG" set of mind. Since I knew him, I gave him the money, went down to the NPC to redeem the code he gave me....and got a "not a valid code" error.
            I literally turned around and saw him sprinting down the dock, as far away from me as he could get. He'd put me on ignore, and literally was running away as far as he could possibly get. I sicc'd about four of my friends on him, they chased him down, but then he logged with a last "lol I can't believe she fell for it".
            HOMG, I was in tears for days...finally got my money back from a GM.....but I learned my lesson pretty well that day.
            In the end, I did get a spectral tiger, from a close friend, who gave me the tiger before I gave him the money, LOL. He'd heard about me getting burnt, so he was prepped for my paranoia, LOL.
              Similar instance in Guild Wars; Early in the game's lifespan I decided I wanted to get Fissure of Woe armour, which is essentially 'Millionaire club' armour due to its rather insane materials cost.
              (as of last week, to purchase the 105 Globs of Ectoplasm needed for the armour, and ignoring the half-dozen other materials needed, costs around 850,000 gold.)
              I had a stack of 75 ectoplasms in my inventory and, due to a lagspike and insomnia, accidentally double-clicked on the stack while I was selling vendor trash to an NPC merchant.
              NPC merchants only give you minimum value for crafting materials. I refused to play in the fissure of woe for nearly four years as a result, because I was ~pissed~ at myself.
                LOL I still consider it more or less chump change, I have to make 1.2 bil isk to pay my 4 accounts every month, ships are disposable as far as I am concerned. Hell, I build capital ships for a living, I can whip off anything up to a freighter on about a weeks notice if I need to [when I have all 4 accounts active. I mine on 3 accounts and run the orca on the 4th.] Right now I am building up my ore collection, and doing 6 planets PI making POS fuels as they sell most profitably right now.
                Glad you got the spectral tiger. Scammers seriously suck. I know they keep telling players to always be careful about scammers, and not to do trades without being certain of the goods. In EVE we have a dev that runs a service for people selling cap ships - he will hold the ship, wait until the ISK has transferred and then pass the ship to the new owner for a fee. Really nice knowing that anybody willing to use him is upfront about everything. I have actually mined in the same belt as the Veldnaught
                  Hmm, the only one that springs to mind was in Vanilla WoW.
                  My main was a paladin and at that time you needed to accomplish a decent sized but very expensive quest chain to attain the class specific epic mount (the Charger). Part of that was quest was to obtain a Pristine Black Diamond, which at the time was ridiculously expensive at easily 300 Gold each. This was at a time where having 1000 Gold meant you had a ton of cash.
                  I had been grinding gold and materials for a month and had everything but the diamond so I checked the Auction house and saw someone was selling 2 for 150 Gold. I'm thinking easy score, I can buy it and put the other one up for a quick payday a week later. Got my diamonds and finished off the quest. I go to put the other one up and find out the prices are at 50 Gold each.
                  You see, Blizzard made an announcement that they were increasing the drop rate of the diamond significantly, which in turn caused the price of them to plummet.
                    Wow, you totally do not want me to go into the problems I have with MMO's and developers right now. Mind you, I love MMO's but I am sick to death of so many things thats happening in them.
                      Mage epic 1.0. I'd ended up waiting for a long time and being stuck behind a couple "more valuable players" (read: they wouldn't tolerate being foisted off and jerked around, but I would) and it's finally fairly well underway. I get my staff off Phinny, go to do the turn in, and...nothing.
                      I'd given the lot to my pet by accident, who was far too close to the NPC, and I was too fucked up on cold meds and sick as a dog to realize.
                      I could've kissed the GM who reimbursed, but that was at least 5 years off my life, there.
                        Sweet jumping jebus, that would have seriously sucked - glad the GM gave the goodies back.
                        When I was a GM on Mith Marr, my favorite thing was performing weddings, second was helping run GM events. I loved the halfling high dive events in Rivervale. I used to also grab packs full of cookies and milk and run around passing them out to players when I got bored and there weren't any petitions to process.
                          Radically different flavor... but epic in its' own way.
                          KoL, the game I mentioned in my last post, just had a phishing scam get pulled, it's obvious someone has access to a database in some way; a ransombox exe, with spotty info on players. I clicked on it, but did not download 'cuz I have it set up that way, go me. Some were not so fortunate.
                          this is teh main thread. KoL's fanbase is fierce with the programming and geekery, and found the punk (from somewhere in Germany) in less than fifteen hours. ... well. Maybe. We'll see. It is bounced thru .ru... Eh. Jick's working on it!
                          And now people are speculating/planning a world event from this. Granted, last time we had a world event was when the servers got infected with spiders a few months ago...
                          Still. At least a few people who aren't entirely stupid have fallen for this. :\
                            Lost another Tengu this morning, shortly after getting up and logging on. Complete schoolboy error.
                            Later, I found myself wandering around town with my flies down.
                            On the plus side I found a cheap steak near date and that's going to feed the five thousand my appetite tomorrow, and when we got playing in my corp tonight we found someone else's fail.
                            Few here will understand this, but our wormhole space had a connection to another one claimed by another alliance and we looked around. No bugger in there, and their defences were out of fuel. We've nicked several millions of Iskies worth of ships already and there's one real prize we should get out tomorrow that's worth billions. Looks like the entire alliance either disbanded or got podded out of their - we're performing the heist of the week! Not all our fail
                              Better than me, lost two drakes in a single day and almost lost a third, first one to a scammer (the old loot container switch one, i wasn't thinking) and the second to a L4 mission, almost lost the 3rd to the same mission but some guy came in and rescued my butt.
                              I'd get back into Eve but can't afford the subscription fee atm.
