How'd you manage to miss over half my email???

*sigh* This is one of the reasons I'm about to give up on Freecycle.

Me: "Offer: a long-sleeved work shirt from Big Green Supermarket, size L. Pickup in My City but I can go elsewhere if it's more convenient." [Most places here are not all that far from anyplace else.]

Sole responder: "Oh, my mom can use that. I'm in Nearby Town but will be in Your City on the weekend. Can you hold it till then? Maybe give me your ph. # and I will call before I leave? What is your address?"

Me: "Sure, no problem. Sunday is probably best for me. [Said shirt is sitting in my laundry basket; haven't had time to do the laundry yet.] My phone number is XXX-XXXX and my address is apt. XYZ, at ABC My Street. It's the building right at the corner of My Street and Cross Street. It's a secure building but you can buzz me from the lobby."

Sole responder: "Probably Sat. If you leave your ph. # I can call before I come. What is your address?"

I'm still trying to get them to stop sending me e-mails. I unsubscribed over a year ago, it's not listed as a yahoo group for me, and I'm not on their list...but they keep on coming.

I also had issues with them so I stopped. Most memorable one was me giving away baby items. I had a bottle warmer and someone said they wanted it. At the same time someone else was coming to get another thing I had posted. I left them in the vestibule area of my apt (I was the only apt, other place was a dr office, closed on the weekend) as I was not going to be home.

Later I come back, both things are gone. I receive an email in a little while from the one person, angry that the bottle warmer was not there. I emailed the other person that was also picking up stuff and ask them if by chance they had picked up the warmer and they said no.

So I email back the first person and tell them IDK what happened, but I put the bottle warmer where we agreed. Well, they were pissed and wanted me to get them another bottle warmer. Um, what? Hello? I told them I would not be able to do that and they were pissed. Wanted me to possibly buy them another one, then they started telling me that they were 16 and having a baby and really needed it. Ok, understandable but I still didnt have one and Im not going out to buy one just for them. I wished her luck and blocked her. I then gave my couch away without a hitch and severed freecycle ties.

Amina ... good grief! As far as I know, in most of my local Freecycle groups, somebody pulling a stunt like that would be banned instantly. They are pretty stern about idiotic behaviour. I live in an apartment as well but it's an apartment building, so it's not really feasible to leave stuff lying around. I know a lot of people living in houses do that, which is a lot more practical.

24601, that is so weird that you are still getting emails. Is it from people wanting stuff? I got an email once from somebody about a microphone. I had no idea WTF they were talking about but just in case, went back over my "Offer' posts ... and I'd posted the microphone TWO YEARS EARLIER.

Another thing that annoys me is people posting stuff and saying "MUST GO TONIGHT". This has been sitting around your house for how long and now suddenly it's GOT to be out of the house within the next 5 to 7 hours? Really?

Haven't heard anything more about the work shirt.

Thanks to your post im considering posting a TV and stand Im dying to get rid off. If this goes well, Maybe Ill pick it back up.

Nope, it's from freecyclewasilla@yahoogroups.com. I've just set up a filter at this point that sends them all to the trash folder.
