  • Cheap Eats: Seattle and Vancouver -- assistance please!

So, I'll be heading to Vancouver tomorrow and then to Seattle a few days after that. My boyfriend is paying for the trip and the lodging, but placed me in charge of food and amusements. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, namely a visit to the urgent care and two enormous phone bills, my budget for the trip is nowhere near what I'd like it to be.

I figure I'll be able to save the most on food, and I hope some friendly CS'ers might be willing to help. Got any suggestions for cheap ways to fills our stomachs in these two cities? In Vancouver we'll be staying downtown in the vicinity of Pender Street. In Seattle, we'll be staying in the Belltown neighborhood. We won't have a car in either place, so hopefully someone will know some places we can either walk to or that won't be too far from a transit line.

    Thanks in advance.

As some one who doesn't live any where near either of those places I will still mention Pike Place market, and specifically Beecher's Cheese. They are not the cheapest of places, however the value you get for the quality of the food is excellent.

The further disclaimer is that I have never been to Seattle, however I have been to the Beecher's in NYC (Saturday night even), and the Seattle contingent of my friends (a slew of them just moved out there) love it, and love pike place.

    oh, right:

    Good luck!
I honestly think that finding good places to eat in new places is horribly fun :P

if you are going towards Pioneer Square then I can suggest the following

          for roughly 35ish (2 bugers, 2 beers, & onion rings) J & M Cafe was mighty tasty http://jmcafeseattle.com/

          McCoy's Firehouse is also good
          http://mccoysfirehouse.com/

a little cheaper (we tend to go during happy hour before soccer games)
is Owl & Thistle. There are signs, it is a little hard to find

Now be fore warned Pioneer Square gets crazy during sporting events. I don't remember how long you will be here but here is the schedule for the next week or so. Be glad you weren't here this last Saturday

          Oct 18 - Sounders Game (15k fans)
Oct 30 - Seahawks (could be close to 68k)
Nov 2 or 3rd - Sounders (at least 36k probably more since this is a playoff game)

Sorry I don't know anything closer to Belltown or more in downtown, but we don't get up that way much.
Coffee should be strong, black and chewy! It should strip paint and frighten small children.
