  • Good android apps?

So I bought a nice new shiny phone. And for those on chat who I talked to about it, unfortunately, the one I wanted was sold out. So I went for second best, but still just as good: HTC Wildfire S

Anyway....it comes with Android, so what are some good apps? I've already got the following:

    -Swiss Army Knife.
    -Alchemy
    -Colour Touch
    -Virtual Gym.
-Angry Birds (I couldn't pass that one up!)
-Soundboards for Charlie the Unicorn and Karl the Psychotic Llama
    -Slice It.

Any other good apps people would recommend?

Some of the most used apps on my 'Droid are

    Kindle reader
    Google +
Chrome to phone.. (only if you use the chrome browser on the PC though)
    Google maps with Latitude
    Google Goggles
    Skype
    Trillian
Out Of Milk.. shopping list manager & to do lists
Angry Birds, you already said but there are lots of little free games out there that are fun to play. The latest one I'm playing at the moment is Coin Pirates
I also have a TV guide with remote recording for my TV subscription.
Also have little gadgets for wifi scanning, cpu usage, battery life, etc to keep the techy bit of me happy.

Oh, and winamp for music & ACast for downloading podcasts automatically

And thats just teh stuff I use most!
    Arp happens!

Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.

      Apps I've got

      FML official
      Google News
Google Sky Map (more for fun than anything else)
      ECB (English Cricket Board)
      3D Digital weather - it's a combined weather app/day/date/clock widget

Those are the ones I use the most.
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

Google Sky is my most favorite ap! I have learned SO MUCH FROM THAT AP!!!! It's just about one of the coolest piece of tech I've ever freaking seen!

Also, the Google Docs ap is nice, because it allows me to edit my chapter posts (I write a serial fiction blog thing every week, and mostly write my chapters in Google Docs.) while I'm sitting around bored somewhere killing time.

I have the Audubon wildflower field guide, but honestly, it's not awesome.

Cut The Rope is a pretty addictive little game.

I also got Western Film and TV ringtones. It's classic Western movie themes. There's about a dozen of them. I'm currently using The Magnificent Seven as a ringtone. I had Bonanza a couple months ago.

And I recently got Antikythera Simulator. It's basically a simulation of how the Antikythera Mechanism worked. It doesn't do much, but it's interesting, and if you like clockworks, it's like porn.

Out Of Milk is good, but for good sticky notes, AK notes is AWESOME! Winamp is the shit and you can sync your playlist on your android! My fave real time messaging app is Kik since you can text (or kik) people that not only have Androids but iPhones and now Blackberry! Eat that BBM!

I'm always hearing songs I want to know the name of... Shazaam is great for that

Lookout Mobile Security is great when you can't find your phone. It will make the display flash and makes a horrible screechy siren. It will also tell you where the phone is. I left mine in a buggy at Publix once and was able to find it using that app and Im always using the siren to figure out where I sat it down in the house.

Scanner Radio is cool to listen to your local emergency services

Trapster is great if you are driving in an unknown area. Alerts you to red light cameras, speed traps etc...

                Some useful/fun things:

Digitally Imported has a mobile version (DI Radio)

                Pandora, need I say more?

Google Translate is fun/useful to have.

If you can replace your Dialer (and don't have an HTC handset) then Ray Dialer is an EXCELLENT one that has many of the awesome features of the sense dialer. You have an HTC handset, ignore that :P

If you play Dominion there is an excellent dominion shuffler available (very customizable, so if goons make you see red, just bar them). There is also a similar one for Thunderstone.

TasKiller. Great for killing the stupid processes that you just can't turn off (especially if your phone came with crap ware). IIRC, Gingerbread makes this no longer needed, but I don't know your OS version.

Ringdroid is great for trimming audio files down to make your own ringtones with

Timeriffic: change your phone's behavior depending on what time of day it is (I automatically shut my ringer off when I'm at work, for example)

aCar: keep track of fuel economy, maintenance, mileage, etc.

GasBuddy: Help find the best gas prices

Mr Number: block groups of calls, or send them directly to voicemail (great for those numbers with blocked or resticted CallerID settings)

Watchdog: Keeps track of processor and memory usage. Allows you to see what's slowing your phone down

                  3G Watchdog: Monitors data usage.

Launcher Pro: better than the Android launcher or HTC Sense, IMO.

My version is 2.3, so I'm presuming Gingerbread.

The phone I was originally planning to get had Froyo.

Thanks for a few examples I'll take these in mind. I'm preferring the free apps since I can't afford the pay ones. There's a few store specific apps that have similar functions to Out of Milk, so I'll download both of them.

If Becks has a smartphone, she'd like the Charlie the Unicorn soundboards

I am having altogether too much fun with Shop Savvy. It's a barcode/QR reader. You scan a barcode of an item at the store, and it tells you what it sells for at local stores.

Other than that I have a couple weather apps and ESPN scorecenter, and I am probably the only person here interested in that one.

We don't get ESPN down here

One app that is INSANELY addictive is called Slice It. You basically have to divide up shapes into roughly equal segments with a certain number of "slices".

My ringtone at the moment is the Mario theme, my message tone is "THIS! IS!....a text" and my alarm is the Roadrunner "Meep Meep!"

For a good compass and bubble level get Ulysse Gizmo.

Check Amazon.com. Every day they give away an app that normally costs money.

                            Free ebooks at ePrint-Studio.

Weather Bug is nice. Amazon had the elite version for free one day.
