  • This feels an awful lot like some sort of minor karmic smackdown...

So I'm supposed to sing in a gospel quartet Sunday and I sort of have the main part.

And I've had laryngitis that seems to be not at all getting better all week.

I could push through just about anything for the brief time I have to stand up and do the freaking song. But since I kind of at least have to be able to squeak out a few notes, it's gonna be a little hard to push through that.

    Starting to freak out here.

I mean, it could have been anything, but laryngitis sort of completely kicks me off the game board, doesn't it?

I just wanted to vent because I'm pissed off and frustrated right now.

And then ...AND THEN... the drugstore can't sell me a pack of Sudafed without the pharmacy being open. That's right, I can't buy an over the counter snot reducer without a fucking pharmacist. (No, I don't have a lot of snot with the thing, I thought it might dry up the little post nasal thing I have going on and help with the voice thing.

I take it you're trying to get the Sudafed that actually works? Unfortunately it's OTC but not since you have to show ID in order to get it. I completely understand your frustration over not being able to get the medicine you need when you need it!

But good luck to you! And Sunday? that should be enough time to get better.

    *hands you lots of tea*

Don't try to "push through it". That can cause some pretty severe and possibly permanent damage to your larynx.

A note pad and pen or equivalent (This is an ideal situation for a practical use of a tablet PC for example) is a godsend. Rest your vocal cords and use that pad like it was going out of style.

      Best wishes and hugs.

Yeah, I've sworn to silence today. No fooling around. I'm not trying to talk at all. Don't have to go anywhere, so that helps.

It came on my last Sunday. Woke up with no voice. Voice came back (more or less)about the time for rehearsal, and I ran through the piece a couple times with the other women, and it hurt like hell later I really paid for that.

        Thanks.

Yeah, I don't mind so much showing ID for it, but they could at least make it available to buy in a drug store without the aid of a pharmacist. That's just messed up. It's not like I was in a great mood when I went in there to start with.
