You know, the ones you buy early on but can't find now

My mom had this duffel bag that was really cool. My dad kept using it and claiming it was his so my mom gave him one for his birthday or Father's Day and it immediately disappeared.

Now they've been disagreeing on whether it even existed and he told her that he doesn't remember ever receiving it but that if she could find it, she could just re-wrap it for him for Christmas.

So guess what she just found in their closet...

Hehe. I bought an ornament for my mom a couple months ago, and in packing and moving temporarily into my parents' house, I somehow managed not to lose it. Yet.

Have you tried putting it on the tree yet?

Doing christmas shopping for my dad is easy, we just buy early and don't bother hiding it because he always forgets what we got him.

A couple of years ago my mom got him a set of files in September and left them out. He asked about them 3 times between when she got them and Christmas and he was STILL surprised when he unwrapped them. I should have put money on that happening, safest bet I could think of.

My husband used to shop all year round and stash stuff away.

I could almost guarantee, every year, that I would find at least one bag days after Christmas with one or two of my gifts in it.

He died in June, 2008, and when I was looking for the box with pictures for the tribute to him, I came across either a bag of early Christmas shopping stashed away, or late gifts that he had forgotten to wrap.
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

I've done that a couple of times. Actually, now that you mention it, I have a pair of earrings I bought several years ago at a craft show for one of my sisters, and forgot to send them to her. I keep finding them and putting them away again for the next gift-giving occasion, then forgetting again. Duhhhh!
