Titled The Day the Cat Stood Still.

(No, it's not a variant of Dr. Seuss, but it's funny none the less.

Kinda reminds me of the time at my first retail job where a customer mistook me for a mannequin.

I had been hired on as Christmas help but they decided to keep me at least through inventory but they had to give me a certain amount of hours each week. Somebody came up with the brilliant idea to have me count foot traffic in the store. They gave me one of those clicker-counter thingies and I was told to click it each time someone got off the escalators and elevators.

So there I was standing still, bored out of my gourd with my arms folded so people couldn't see the clicker (for some reason it tended to make people suspicious and paranoid ). This lady comes into the area to shop and after about 10 minutes or so I shifted position or sighed or something and she gasps and jumps like three feet in the air and then bursts out laughing and said she thought I was a display.
My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.---Cary Grant

Ha. I was just about to post this very link (got it from The Whiteboard), and this was the first thing at the top of the forum. Beat me to it.

(Oh, and at the story. That's just such a cat thing to do. As Grimmy once put it, zero to nuts in four tenths of a second...)

one of my coworkers does that to me... but on purpose.

he'll come up behind me just in the corner of my vision and STARE at me until I turn to look.... cos he knows i'll go :gasp: in surprise (at least if i'm hyper-focused on my work)
