Crack is whack. And I mean that with all sincerity.

Seems like she wouldn't change the direction she was headed, and ended up where she was going. Sad.

With all due respect, Irv, they don't know, or haven't said, the cause of death yet. Yes, she has/had a long history with drugs, but still. RIP, Whitney. An incredible life and talent taken far too young.

How sad - she had such amazing talent. Its disheartening how many people are willing to throw their lives away for the sake of alcohol and drugs.

Once again, a reminder that they haven't released the details surrounding her death.

While she certainly has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse, until there is an official announcement as to the cause, it's probably best not to make snap judgments.
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

I find it terribly sad. I absolutely loved her music and her voice when she was up and coming in the 80s, and her fall from grace in subsequent decades was depressing. I sure hope she is in a better place now. Rest In Peace, Whitney...

Heard about this at work today... I tend to not believe anything the inmates say, but I just saw an article about it when I got home. Very sad, she had an amazing voice.

I found this out from my FEM. She also told me that the death cause was unknown.

It always seemed to me that up until she hooked up with Bobby Brown, her life & career were on a remarkable rise. She could do no wrong. But once she was with him, everything she did dropped like a rock.
She's in a better place now & she's no longer hurting.

That was the first thing I saw when I went online a few minutes ago. It's all over Facebook; my friends have put post after post about Whitney. It really doesn't matter much what the cause of death is. She's still gone.

I admit, I have never been much of a fan of hers, but I can't deny that she had an amazing voice and a lot of talent. And she should have had many more years to live.

I want to reiterate what Ree said: we don't yet know what killed her. Yes, it seems "obvious" to a lot of people that her drug use killed her, since she was so young at 48, but my father also died at 48, and his only real drug was nicotine, which was not what killed him. (Complications from kidney disease, if you must know, unrelated to his cigarette habit, and not caused by alcohol, as he did not really drink all that much.)

I personally believe that drugs probably played a role, but I do not know. While I was not a fan of her work or her genre, her talent was unquestionable, and if it did turn out that drug use contributed to her death, it is all the sadder. For the moment, it is probably best to wait for the official pronouncement from the coroner's office.

And if you were a fan of hers, play some of her music to remind yourself of what made her as great as she was.

Latest news: She was found drowned in her bath by her bodyguard.

                          http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...e-aged-48.html

It'll have to wait for an autopsy to find out whether she took an overdose or just fell into a drugged sleep and drowned. (Or something more sinister...)

Holy smoke! I initially read that as meaning she was found after her bodyguard drowned her in her bathtub, not that her bodyguard found her after she had drowned.

I saw a post on Facebook and thought at first it was a hoax until I saw the big breaking news headliner on cnn.com. It's sad that she died so young, no matter what the cause could be. My parents have the vinyl of her first album from the 80's. I remember listening to that and all the other songs she had on the radio. There's no denying that she had a great voice and was incredibly talented. RIP Whitney Houston.
