*background* my BF is my immigration sponsor, he also works a job that earns 4 times what I do and is our households main breadwinner. We have been together for close to a decade. At the moment his work has placed him a fair distance from where we live so I only get to see him for a few days at a time every 8 weeks or so.
When I started at my new job I told them upfront I couldn't work over X many hours a week which they continually ignore. I also told them that when the BF needed me I would have to change my avaliability. I asked for 4 days off a few weeks ago and got it to help him with something. They seemed fine with it but then tried to get me to work on days I had class to "make up" for their favor to me.
The BF needs me to take another week off in March, I can work day shifts but not after 5pm at all. Im letting them know on Sunday and I wonder how they will deal with it. The BF wanted me to quit when I saw him for the 4 days, he even offered to call in for me.
If they say no I will leave, my limited time with him is much more precious than a part time minimum wage job that are a dime a dozen around here. It will be interesting though to see if they struggle with this as much as they have with my hour limits. After this visit I won't see him until May or September. Part of me hopes they will be difficult and I can get out of there, the other part hates looking for a job so I hope they will just accept that what they said was okay during my interview.
