  • Game of Thrones food ideas?

My roommate and I are having a Game of Thrones marathon at our house with his coworkers and we were going to try to do theme food. Anyone have any ideas? Also I'll take any decorating ideas too

Just do a google search for medieval/renaissance foods. That should work.

In the latest book there is a very...interesting...pie. I shall call it "Frey Pie".

            Also, horse hearts.

Turkey drumsticks or shanks of mutton are always good. Or perhaps whole roasted chicken.

Oooh, yeah. Rack of ribs would work too. So would a hearty meat stew of some sort or lentil soup. Both are in the books. Crusty bread, cheese, and sausage as well, like a dried summer sausage or perhaps dried salami. You could also get German style sausages.

Oh, I just remembered how my husband and I used to laugh about how all the Dornish ate was olives, cheese and bread. I don't think they are in the first season though, I believe they show up in book 2.

For Game of Thrones, I can't think of a better dish to serve than Grayson's Black Chicken with Quail Egg from this just-finished season of Top Chef, which looked particularly grisly, as it was intended to do, since it was supposed to be a dish fit for an Evil Queen. As Grayson put it, she wanted the chicken to look like it had just been murdered on the plate, and the quail egg "represents…the baby…that was inside her…when she was slaughtered."

                        Mission accomplished!

I am still shocked she didn't win that challenge.

Well some of these looked awesome. And if I hadn't ended up feeling crappy the day before, I might have actually tried one. I'm hoping that when we watch the last 4 episodes maybe I can make something. For video game testers who are used to long hours during some seasons, they are not the stay up and marathon through type people at all! Oh well Definitely going to try some recipes though and thanks for all the help. Plus, we did a Firefly marathon twice at the old house so I'm hoping for another one of these come warmer weather so I can convince my best friend to do his ribs for it too. They take all morning though so he doesn't make them much.

Make ginger bread men, but tilt the oven rack so one side of their faces gets burned.
