  • My Father and the Atlanta Furries

So I just got a call out of the blue from my dad, who just got back from a work trip out to Atlanta, and he was alllll aflutter and excited. Straight out, he asked "Have you ever heard of fuzzies?!"

Straightened him out on that term, and after I stopped laughing, he continued.

Apparently there was a furry convention in Atlanta last week, to his surprise. He's never seen furries before, and it blew his mind. He was amazed by the quality of their "mascot costumes" (yes, I told him they're called fursuits), and how polite and nice everyone was.

Especially of note was his anecdote about how he heard a group of dogs comment "There's just too many cats here."

He also about died laughing when he yelled at aforementioned group "SQUIRREL!" and several of them promptly ran around going "WHERE WHERE FIND IIIITTT GET IT GET IT"

He kept talking about this one wolf, think the name was Toxic, who was especially nice to him, and talked to him and explained the furry community. He was really impressed, and

So yeah, tldr; furry conventioners made my father's weekend.

PS -- if any of you guys were there, thanks, and if anyone possibly knows this Toxic fellow, thank him for me.

Furries can be pretty awesome guys, met a few at Dragon*con in Atlanta. Unfortunately it isn't until Labour Day weekend otherwise I'd ask them if they know the guy.

That's hilarious. My dad would be talkin' about it for days.

He has been mentioned on FB, don't know if Toxic still follows the furry community I'm part of.

"Fuzzies"...heh. I actually thought I saw a furry walking down the street the other day...but when I got closer I saw it was just a larger woman with a big hat and a floppy shirt flapping open in the breeze (over another shirt, of course). Oh well...

Ha, cool! Even still, I honestly didn't expect anyone to actually know who he was, so that's awesome!
