  • And This is Why I Hate Ebay

Just took a hit with a negative feedback because the buyer stated the card I sold him wasn't in mint condition, and that my description was vague.

    I guess this wasn't enough?

This is for a rare Dark Charizard card from the Team Rocket set, #4/82. The card is in very good condition, near mint condition, as it is slightly curved. Some "therapy" involving flattening between heavy books will fix that right up.
I mean, I stated right there, black and white, NOT MINT CONDITION, and even marked down all the issues wrong with it.

I just messaged him about it, asking why the negative feedback without even contacting me, and pointing out that the auction clearly stated the card's condition quite well. I doubt he'll revise it, but oh well.

eBay is really starting to suck.

We should all pool our money together and start a competing site.

Do you want to design the web interface?

I would insist on a SC rule. Given the evidence that you provided in tis case, I would find the buyer guilty of being an SC and sentence him to a public flogging. As CS.com is opposed to violence against customer, the flogging would be done with a wet noodle. However, the video will be posted on YouTube, and hopefully this person would become a laughing stock.

Yes, it is. I too have gotten negative feedback from sucktomers who couldn't be bothered to read the item description, or are oh so upset that I can't mail an item from the US to Outer Mongolia overnight for $1.00 s/h. And of course, sellers are not allowed to leave negative feedback on buyers (though I have seen some leave a positive with a comment like, "NEGATIVE! Took two weeks to pay and tried to nickel-and-dime me!"). Nice even playing field, eh?

I wouldn't mind an alternative, but eBay is far too well known and other sites are too often targeted by scammers, spammers and other creeps.

Yeaaah, SC replied that there was a "huge crease" that book therapy wouldn't be able to fix, and that I advertised it as pretty much mint, so he "stands by his review".

I said ok, that's his choice, but if he was that upset by it, he could've just emailed me, and I would've seen what I could do, maybe even a return and refund. But, it was his choice to go straight to negative feedback, so that's his decision.

It's, thankfully, only one bad feedback, and I replied to it so that hopefully future buyers see it and go "oh, crazy person, just will ignore that, then."

As a buyer, I always take a negative feedback with a grain of salt (particularly if there are an overwhelming number of positive ones). Then I go and read the reviews of the complainer to see what sorts of reviews they usually give and receive. If people make decisions based only on the bad reviews, you're probably better off without their sucky customer-ship.

I always try to look at the circumsances of the complaint; can't you add your comment underneath to show he's lying?

I also hate double-sided positive feedback, where the mark is positive, but their comment is negative.

I too am looking to start selling off my massive Battletech, AvP, Battlestar Galactica and Legend of the 5 rings collections.
I am desperately trying to find a different site than Ebay - those dudes hosed me so bad on my last 2 auctions it cost me 25$ in losses to sell some items - yuck.
The fees are eating me alive.
Also they are so geared towards the buyer the seller always seems to have the deck stacked against them.

Ugh, I used to sell on EBay. I had a woman bid on a bunch of things, I wish I had read her feedback, she had a total of 20, 13 of the were negative. She'd get pregnant bid on maternity clothes, have a miscarriage then not pay for the clothes. She bid on a fertility monitor I had up and then when she won, she sent me a message saying she found out she was pregnant and didn't need it anymore.

She then bid on a bunch of maternity clothes I had, I was able to retract her bid. A week later she tried to bid on the fertility monitor again.

I also had a woman who wanted the monitor, sent me a private message asking if I would sell it to her for 20$ as she desperately needed it but could not afford it. I told her that no one " desperately" needs a fertility monitor and that if she can't afford one, she can't afford a baby.

I had a woman bid on a Beanie Baby, after the auction was over, she sent 5 emails in an hour, each more dramatic than the last wanting payment info. I give it to her, this was when most sellers took money orders. This woman sends me a personal check, then files a dispute because I didn't send it right after I get her check. I told her I'd send it after the check cleared.

I also hate ebay. The cards are stacked against the seller, with no possibility of leaving negative feedback, which I think is a deterrent against SCs trying it on.

Add into that, limits on P&P for small items such as DVDs (it costs around £2.46 to send an item, yet I can only charge the customer £1 for P&P?) and it really isn't worth it.

I just donate to charity and enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling instead.

I buy on ebay but have never sold. I had no idea that sellers couldn't even leave negative feedback for a buyer. How stupid is that??? That policy is only going to encourage repeat, multiple sc's. Makes me really feel sympathetic to the sellers.
I'm sorry, but I've reached my maximum allowable exposure to stupidity limit for the day. I'll have to get back to you tomorrow.

You are allowed to block bidders, and anyone who leaves me a negative or doesn't pay gets blocked from bidding on future items. It has kept repeat offenders away and cut down on the SCs.
