Cashierbex's post about the mother who left her kids in the car reminded me of something that happened years ago when I worked at a convenience store. It wasn't at my regular store, I was just filling in for about a week.
A women came in to shop. Almost immediately she ran out the door yelling. I looked out the door and saw her car rolling back towards a busy four lane highway. Luckily, the car was stopped by a telephone pole. What had happened was, she had left a young child in the car. This was before young children were required to be in the back strapped in a car seat, so he was able to get to the gear shift lever and get it out of park. Fortunately, he wasn't hurt.
But that's not what made her a Mother of the Year nominee. This was:
A couple of days later the exact same thing happened. She left the child in the car again, the car got out of gear, the car rolled backwards towards the street. God must have been looking out for this child even if the mother wasn't. He was saved by the same telephone pole.
I went back to my regular store the next day, so I don't know if she learned her lesson after the second time. I hope God contiued to look out for him.
