  • Anyone want to bid on a human skull?

    School submits....unusual items for auction.

Basically a private all-girls school down here closed down recently due to dwindling enrolments. It then reopened as a private school for both sexes in Reception to Year Six.

So in order to raise some money, they're putting several items up for auction. Including a heart.

I know my old anatomy teacher would love to jump on those. Apparently, the regulations on getting real human remains have gotten very strict over the years, and it's getting harder and harder for schools to get these items.

I don't think we had a heart at the community college. At least, I never saw one. We had a few skulls, but of course, you can never have enough skulls.

I'm not surprised really. These days they want to be sure of how the remains were obtained IIRC.

I remember back in early 98 hearing on the radio that some company in France IIRC was in serious trouble because the fake skulls they were selling... weren't fake. My reaction: alllllrighty then. O_o (i remember that part cos one of the chiefs replied that indeed that deserved an "alllrighty then")

although, if you really want human bones, there's some on ebay. old medical skellies, painted and labeled for education assistance. but they're not cheap - the one i saw was 1500
