  • Geeze, I better not be charged with animal abuse!

Because my rabbits are TO STUPID to go into their houses when it rains! It's pouring and they have open pens with hay-filled houses. Do they go into the houses? No. They're sitting in the open in the mud completely soaked and looking like the most neglected animals in the world! I brought the male inside because I don't want to risk him getting sick. But comeon you guys, you're making me look like a horrible pet owner!

LOL when I was growing up, we had turkeys. For those who have had turkeys, 'nuff said. For those who haven't.... seriously, you have to do everything for them. If it rains and you don't put them in their "house", they will drown - their nostrils are on the top of their beaks and collect water. They will stare at a hole in a plywood wall for HOURS.. I remember mom putting a stick through the hole at them (not maliciously, just to see what they'd do) and I swear some of them had some pretty serious panic attacks LOL. My cat likes to sit in the rain outside on the lawn instead of coming in right away.

Moral of my little story up there... animals are funny creatures. Thanks for the chuckle :-)

My cat...I love him, but rainy weather becomes a game for him. He'll act like he wants outside. Fair enough. I'll let him out...and he'll stand on the porch looking all freaked out for a few minutes, then run back in. A few minutes later...same thing all over again. Obviously, he hates the rain. I can't decide if he's overly optimistic that it'll go away fast, or if he just has no memory retention when it comes to rain.

Like a cat that's being bothered by a dog, your cat is probably trying to pretend the rain isn't there until it finally goes away.

Our dogs are spiteful when it comes to rain. If we go somewhere and leave them outside (there is a huge covered porch for them), they will cover themselves from nose to tail in mud. No interest in mud whatsoever when we're home or if we leave the backdoor open so that they can come and go as they please. Of course its always in the evening too, so I make them take turns in a nice warm shower and they look sooo sad and mistreated (35+ kg weimaraners).

That sounds like Buddy (the mountain Lab)

He's got a doghouse in a huge lot . . . yet he would rather sit outside in the rain instead of getting into his doghouse.

Sometimes he'll go up underneath the building (the dog lot is attached to our large building and he's dug out a big enough hole underneath that he can stay in it when it's really hot outside.)

And don't even think of trying to get him out of the lot . . . he'll sit right outside the gate and will NOT budge for anything! It will take both me and my brother to try to get him back in (and this is a dog who weighs close to 150 lbs.)

At least with Abby (well, it was Charlie but Mom and I decided we liked her original name better) she will stay indoors, like today. She's been lounging around either on my bed or in the dining room floor. This one has a hard life, reeeeaaally she does.

She'll go outside for the day tomorrow if the ground is dry enough . . . it's soggy right now from the thunderstorms we had this morning.
