    over the last 60 years (1950 - 2010). What minimum wage was at the time, how many hours it took you to earn rent, a movie ticket, and a gallon of gas

      56 hours just to make enough to pay rent.

      now you have to work almost twice that

        Those prices are just for 1 gallon of gas too. So while 23 minutes isn't much that becomes 4 to 5 + hours if you have an average size tank around 12-16 gallons for a car.

          Nice to see outright comparisons like this.

          Because comments like "bread cost a nickel when I was a kid!" mean almost nothing when you only made a couple dollars a week.

          At least this is comparing apples to apples.
