  • You ruined Mother's Day!!!!!!!!!!

I get that you're upset that what you wanted to give your Mom for Mother's Day you now can't because it's defective. I get that you're upset even more because it's the second one that you've had that's defective. You have a right to be upset. I would be too. I even said that and sympathized with you about it. It's completely uncool that you got two defective items in a row.

You know what else is completely uncool? Screaming at me for ruining your Mom's Mother's Day. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a product that my company sells, but I didn't make the product nor did I select it for sale. I'm the person who is trying her best to help you resolve the situation. Screaming at me is counterproductive. I didn't have anything to do with the problem beyond trying to help you resolve it. No, I'm not going to tell your mother why she's not getting the cheap crappy thing you selected for her present. Perhaps I should put my mother on the phone with you to teach you how to complain without making an ass of yourself? (Didn't say that, wish I could have.) Absolutely you can have the address and phone number for our corporate office. Here you go and I'll be happy to refund your money when you come in with your receipt at your convenience.

And then I immediately called corporate to apprise them of the situation (with details) and also placed a call to my direct supervisor with a verbatim account of the incident and the names of the employees who witnessed my side of the phone conversation. Never let it be said that I'm not thorough.

The worst part of this? This person was probably my mother's age or so (mid 60s) and was carrying on like this. I swear, this was the second person of this age range to go off on me this week, and for something I didn't even have any control over!

I'm sorry you had to deal with that However, ruining Mother's Day should put you in the running for an honorable mention among the "You ruined Christmas" contest !! ;-)

And let me just get this straight ... the SC was in their 60's? Buying a MD present for THEIR mother? Who had to be, oh I don't know, early 80's, or at the least late 70's? WTH! My mom is 78 and all she ever wants for MD is a card and a phone call - she says she doesn't need any more "junk" :-D (that's for the SC, not you)

The only thing mine has mentioned wanting is Mother's or Grandmother's jewelry and I'm still trying to get my siblings onboard with it. *eyeroll*

Yeah, she was a real piece of work. I'm hoping that she comes in for her refund when I'm working. I don't want anyone else to be stuck dealing with her because she was such a b*tch to me. One of us with scorch marks on her ass is quite enough for one SC, thanks.

Back when I worked as a janitor at the Arizona Memorial, I was able to ruin bus loads of people's vacations because I wouldn't magically get all the employees to come back and open the place back up just because their bus tour took longer than was expected.

They seemed to think that because the lights were on that we were open. The lights were on so we could see to mop the floors!

With enough lack of forethought or absence of careful planning, you can ruin any day you want!

I'm sorry, you must have gotten one of my customers. I wouldn't wish them on anyone...

My mom is almost 85. She used to ask me not to get her flowers; I guess because they would just eventually die. She really didn't ask for anything else, just an acknowledgement, which she always got, but for a while I would get her other things too, like Precious Moments figurines and whatnot. This year, I decided at her age she really doesn't need any more stuff...so I went back to flowers. One of the big Internet based flower delivery companies had a rather nice deal with 2 dozen roses in various colors, a vase, and chocolates. I had them delivered on Thursday, and she loved them. Sent her a card separately.
"I was only LOOKING, I didn't mean to enter my card's CVV and actually ORDER! REFUND ME RIGHT NOW!!"

You planned. The idjits that I deal with seldom do and then expect me to make them a miracle. I do if I can, but I'm just a human being and sometimes, it just isn't possible. Like when the store's 5 minutes away from closing on Christmas Eve. Yeah. Couldn't even if I wanted to, sorry. My mantra during times like that is:

Failure to plan on your part does NOT constitute an emergency on my part.

One of my coworkers nearly ruined Mother's Day for someone. Guy came in during a rush and got 3 gift cards. Coworker threw the cards in, but didn't activate one of them. Guy called back and was very polite (thank God) but refused my offer of having his sister come in to get her card activated. Oh well.

For my mother this Mother's Day, I went to the grocery store, bought a bunch of ingredients, then went over to her house and cooked her a lasagna from scratch. Then I washed all my dishes after myself. I didn't give her any "junk" to clutter her house, or flowers that would die. I didn't yell at any shop assistants for ruining my mother's special day because I didn't think ahead. I planned, and I did something nice for my mom.

                        Why can't SCs do that?
Now, I'd like to digress from my prepared remarks to discuss how I invented the terlet...

Oh no. During tax season, we (my CW's & I) routinely ruin birthdays, anniversaries, Valentines and Easter. We just can't overrule the IRS to get those funds released, especially when the SC has not been paying his student loans and/or child support.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

That's what I did for mother's day. Since I have no money to buy a present, I used my food stamps to get a cake mix and baked the cake as a surprise for her. Triple chocolate fudge, from one of the good brands. She'd never had it before. She loved it.

The veteran battleship U.S.S. ARIZONA took a bomb hit to it's magazine only minutes into the 1941 attack and went down in smoke and flame in 40 feet of water with more than 1,100 sailors aboard. To this day, over 900 men are still entombed on the Arizona throughout her crumpled hull, and I wince at the thought of such an honored war grave where the resting place of those men are undisturbed again and again by whiny, bitching tourists shrieking, "You ruined my vacation!" to the staff that maintain the memorial just above the wreck. Can't they leave their bad attitudes back on shore where they belong and act respectful for such a grave?
