Kind of weird to run out of fish so early during an all-you-can-eat event but accidents or nature gets in the way sometimes.
Going back to protest wasn't necessary. They tried to make things right at least. Though where'd the other 8 fish come from? o_O

The man had already consumed 12 pieces of fish around 7:40 p.m. Friday when informed the restaurant had run out and could not substitute any other fish.
I'm sure the restaurant wasn't expecting that level of greed. Especially since he refused to pay his bill until they gave him EIGHT more.
Actually... I'm not sure he did pay that bill. Apparently the restaurant let him run a tab ... and he's still not paid up.
So I say let him call the police. Then the police can arrest him for not paying his tab.Last edited by PepperElf; 05-15-2012, 08:08 PM.

I'm a little conflicted: "All You Can Eat" should mean just that, but some people really take it to extremes.
I mean, 12 pieces of fish? Unless the pieces were the size of my fingernail, I would be sick long before piece 12.
Some of the comments indicate that the man was giving some of his fish to another person at his table who had not ordered the "All You Can Eat" option. If this was the case, the restaurant had every right to throw him out for violating the rules and should have given that as the reason, then called the cops if he refused to pay his bill.
It seems like the restaurant tried to trick him into finally leaving (by lying and saying they were out of fish but then were faced with him refusing to pay his bill, so 'miraculously' found more in the back (maybe Jesus works there) to pacify him.
It could have been handled better, for sure, but I still can't fathom anyone even being able to eat that much or wasting time to protest over this situation.

I know back when I was in "A" School in the Navy the all-you-can-eat meal deal at one dining area stipulated that you were NOT allowed to share the food. Not even a bite. You want some, you had to pay full price.
And they have every legal right to refuse service. Especially if it's true that he's fucking them over by giving the food away to others.

It's 12 pieces of fish. Were they whole fish? What kind of fish? Big? Small? 12 pieces to me doesn't sound like a lot for a man who is eating only fish. If 12 pieces can break their all-you-can-eat night...
And I mentioned the 8 more because if they ran out, I was curious where they came from.

If the pieces look anything like that photo, they're just pieces. Normal fish and chip servings. I realize it may be a stock photo, just relating it.
I usually try to eat very light during the day if I know I'm going out to supper, especially to a buffet. It make look like I'm being greedy, but honestly, I like to enjoy my experience going out since it's not that often. I like to get a bit of everything to taste, but I do see people that will eat only one dish and a lot of it.
There's one place I go to (two and a half hours away) with family every year that has an amazing seafood supper one night a week. It's $70 per person. The only stipulation they have is not more than four lobsters per person, lol. They have so much other food that I will never get passed two haha.Last edited by Slayer; 05-15-2012, 11:18 PM.

I do think the restaurant lied to him, too. I wish they would have just given the real reason why they wanted him to leave instead of resorting to something like that.
If running out of fish was actually not true, of course.

Quoth dendawg View PostThis...good lord this. I was at a Golden Corral once and saw a lady (for lack of a better term ) go up to a tray of food....as it was put out (crab legs i think it was) and in a matter of seconds the tray was emptied.
Those legs take up so much room on a plate, yet you get a small bowlful of meat to eat after the work XD

I never get my money's worth at buffets. I don't eat meat, so I'm left with salad and starches and canned vegetables at places like Golden Corral, and chinese buffets are meat-laden, including creepy eye-still-attached crawfish. And I can't eat more than 2 platefuls."Is it hot in here to you? It's very warm, isn't it?"--Nero, probably

Years ago, on Saturday Night Live, they used to do a recurring Twilight Zone-esque segment called "The Limits of the Imagination".
The best one was a young couple having a meal at an "all you can eat" establishment. When they try to leave, they are stopped and told "It's all you CAN eat, not all you WANT TO eat!" The lights turn up and there's waitresses force-feeding screaming people who are tied to their chairs..."Kamala the Ugandan Giant" 1950-2020 • "Bullet" Bob Armstrong 1939-2020 • "Road Warrior Animal" 1960-2020 • "Zeus" Tiny Lister Jr. 1958-2020 • "Hacksaw" Butch Reed 1954-2021 • "New Jack" Jerome Young 1963-2021 • "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff 1949-2021 • "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton 1958-2021 • Daffney 1975-2021

The guy was a total glutton....TWELVE fish and then some to the point of the food running out?!! That's ridiculous. To top that the staff said he was a problem customer and he has yet to pay the tab he has with the restaurant. They ought to make him pay for it and ban his ass.I don't get paid enough to kiss your a**! -Groezig 5/31/08
