  • Book Club: June 2012 Book Poll

Hi there everybody. I'm changing the schedule slightly, since I seem to have a hard time remembering the middle of the month to post things. It will also let us move things more smoothly, I think.

As such, Feed will have to be done by the end of May. But, what to read next month?

So far, we have the following:

The first three replies from different people (and only the first title in each reply) will round out the list for this month's poll.

Now, the first two books (Rosemary and Rue, and Lord Foul's Bane) are on their third month on the list. After this month, if neither of them win, they're off for three months.

Once I have the replies, I'll open up the poll, and close it down come June 1. We'll get a monthly cycle going more easily, and one that will make more sense.

So, what do you want to read next?

seeing as the last 2 books were picked by me and the wife I think I will bow out on suggesting this time so someone else can have a chance.
Lister: This is Crazy. Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone?
Cat: You're right. We're Nuts! This is an insane conversation....
Lister: She'll never leave Fred and we know it.

What are the preferences for book selections?

We're not really big on rules. The only ones I'm putting in are to remove me from the equation as much as possible. Since i'm the one that puts the poll up, I know when it goes up, I have undue influence, etc. So, I remove me, and just enjoy what happens.

The rest? Let's see, we've had sci-fi, fantasy, thriller/mystery, non-fiction (America Walks Into A Bar is historical), and other types that I'm not even remembering. We don't have a strict theme. It's all about letting us have something fun to do and talk about.

Oh, I suppose there is one rule: You have to be a member of CS to suggest a title, vote on a book, and participate in the conversations. I know, super strict. Sorry about that

I am so super upset about those rules. It's so restricting. I don't know how you manage to do this so much with all those rules in place

I happened upon a mystery novel called The Twin's Daughter. It's set in the Victorian Era England and, from the reviews, it's one of those books that would keep you on your toes.

Pixilated - same thing happened to me. If you log on to your goodreads page (if you forget your password like I did, they will email it to you) scroll down and on the right side is your profile. Click on the groups and the list will pull up, then you can click on the CS one - then you are there!
I'm so bummed that I missed Feed - are you guys still discussing it? If so, I'll pick up a copy and read it real quick to join in. Who am I kidding, I'll be picking up a copy anyways.

we wont start discussing until end of May so you have plenty of time yet.

First up: Link for the group at goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...al-with-retail

Second: DaDairyDruid is right. I'll be posting the discussion thread here on CS on June 1 (along with a few other threads, I think).

However, we still have one more order of business: I need one more suggestion for next month's book. If I can't get one by tomorrow night (so, 36 hours from now), I'll take a random one that didn't win yet, and add it to the poll, so we can open it up.

For the record: The poll is hosted at Goodreads, so please don't post your vote here. It won't count.
