  • Good Doctor Visit

I went to the Doctor today. They are keeping a close eye on my heart since I am off my meds due to the allergic reactions I had. I have been on meds to control my heart rate for over eleven years now.

Today my blood pressure was more on the normal side at 110/70 compared to 90/55 and my heart rate without meds was at 72. I have not had a natural heart rate that low in about 14 years.

Also, I have lost 7 lbs.

The down side is I am still fighting an infection. I came down with a bad sinus infection that developed further into a respiratory infection. I still have not been able to shake it so they are putting my back on antibiotics and she has changed my inhaler until I can totally shake this.

(hugs) Good news on the blood pressure and heart rate, though.

When I first started my cardiac meds, the doctor warned me "You can't stop taking these or you will have a stroke/heart attack/aneurysm/other forms of horrible death"

Then a couple of weeks later...
You will need to stop taking XXX 12 hours before this procedure.

And a couple weeks after that...
You will need to stop taking YYY two days before this procedure and not take it until two days after.

        I'm like

Glad to hear that things are going good so far. Get well!

I am still on two cardiac meds. The one I had to stop was the new one they put me on to control my heart rythms. There is no way I would discontinue the one unless I am laying in a hospital bed being monitored.

My Cardiologist is wondering if now that we have the cardiac spasms under control if we can totally do away with the med to control the rythm. I will see him in August. In the mean time, I have to go have a blood draw done to cheke and make sure nothing is going wrong.

Any time I have surgery I sit down with the anesthetologist and we plan a schedule on when to stop taking which med. I range from stuff that I need to be off for a week to stuff I can take that morning. That is why I prefer to have all my hospitalization take place at Yale - New Haven.
