  • Mom sounds fairly good ...

Mom's friend, neighbour and PoA gave me mom's hospital room number and the general hospital phone number. I just spoke to mom -- it was a VERY short convo, LOL -- but she sounds better than she has in a long time (I'm guessing, as ill as she is, the fact she can't smoke in the hospital is helping at least a little!)

She's still a little confused ("Did you put the cats in the [travel] cage yet?" Um, no, mom, I'm not leaving for My Hometown for another 10 days ...

Now off to cull my wardrobe. I have enough clothes for a small Third World village. It's ridiculous!

Progress. Funny how, when getting rid of clothes, I give away some stuff that's maybe a year old, but will keep the sweatshirt I've had 15 years.

I understand that perfectly -- that sweatshirt is an old friend!

And if you want to talk keeping weird stuff ... I still have the bridesmaid's dress I wore at my brother's wedding!! It's a size 8 -- which I will never again in this lifetime fit into! I think I'm keeping it to remind myself that I once actually could fit into something that small ...

LOL because I totally understand. I got to a 10 once, but honestly, that's too small for my frame. Also, uh, certain, uh, areas have gotten bigger and remain so even if I lose weight. So, yeah, bye bye size 10.

I've gotten rid of everything else that was a size 8 ... 'cause let's be real, LOL ... but I can't seem to let go of this dress.

I've got a friend coming over Monday to help me cull my wardrobe (she's in for a shock, I'm almost finished!) and I suspect she will do the 'tough love' thing: "You've got a photo of yourself in the dress, right? So WHY are you keeping the dress itself???"

            I haven't been a size 8 since I was 8.

Patiokitty, that's a sensible suggestion, but I couldn't bear to cut it up. I'll probably end up flipping a coin: heads, I take it to the local thrift shop where I volunteer; tails, I keep dragging it hither and yon ...

Food Lady: LOL! I was about 125 pounds for several years as a fully-grown adult ... but those days are gone and they ain't comin' back!
